I really prefer a 4-bet preflop, but as played it's good.

4-bet is 1. for value, 2. to take back initiative vs. an aggressive player? Am I thinking about that right? My feeling was that I didn't mind calling since I had position and he would certainly lead with at least one barrel. Then again he probably flats or felts with most of his 3-betting range, so maybe I should just try to get more money in pre.

On the flop I thought I'd see if I could work some yeti theorem magic, but he didn't play along. The turn - I honestly gave it almost no thought. I felt strongly like I was ahead and if I wasn't, I probably had 11 outs.

you actually have 13 outs (assuming your Td is high). The 9 diamonds, other 2 T's and other 2 6's. Amirite?

Your 4bet pre is for value. But as said, it's like at the bottom of the range about and calling is fine preflop. As played you can have the best hand a whole lot plus, like you said, you may have some outs but not really sure which ones. Gator - the other 2 6's would just improve their fullhouse, not ours, if that's how I am reading your response? Unless you think he hit his flush, which now I think is what you are getting at. But I mean he can have so many hands here that we beat/behind that I can't really think of exactly what our outs would be.

at first i was like why is he raising there in a 3-bet pot, but then i looked more carefully and decided i like it.

im kind of torn on 4-betting pre. it kind of depends on whether you think hes more likely to fuck up post flop or pre i guess. i would tend to think hes more likely to fuck up post flop though.

IMO I like the line. I could see 4 betting pre b/c of his stats but i think will is right that he is more likely to fuck up post flop

I generally take the attitude that 90% of people at 50 NL fuck up twice as much post-flop as pre, so my pre-flop lines are sometimes on the passive side (mainly when it comes to calling raises and 3-bets in position). Right or wrong that's how I have been playing a lot of these types of situations. I think it might be more important to 4-bet more/call less at higher stakes, because those players will take advantage of passivity more, and they will make fewer post-flop mistakes. That's the theory anyway.

Results:

Villain had 99 (no diamond) and the tens cruised to victory. I got a little lucky - he might just as easily have had jacks WITH a diamond - but (results-oriented) I do like the fact that I maximized vs. his hand. I think a pre-flop 4bet might have been the better move on the whole, but might have slowed him down with his middle pairs.

I totally agree and play like this when against tards. However, aggro tards are too random to hand read a lot of the time and tens are too vulnerable post flop so you end up gamb00ling there anyway. That's why against this kind of guy I just get it in and over with pre.
