I'm still a little new to HU SNGs. As the SB, is it +ev to call/raise with every hand? My approach has usually been folding starting hands with less than 50% equity vs random. But by calling you're getting 3:1 odds (assuming the BB checks) and you have the advantage of position, and of course raising gives you folding equity.
Versus tight/passive: Raise?
Versus loose/calling station: Call?
Versus loose/aggressive: Raise with 50%+ equity vs random hands, fold the rest?
A lot of it is situational due to stack sizes vs the size of the blinds
I fold like the bottom 10% of hands on the button in a hu sng, and to me that seems a bit tight.
I'll open anything suited, anything connected or one-gapped, and any ace. I'll limp Qx/Kx until someone adjusts and starts popping my limps.
I don't get your 50% equity vs. random comment, hopefully you understand the importance of position (or are playing on a site where the SB is the button) because being in position the entire hand more than makes up for having less than 50% equity against a random hand.
If you're talking about when the blinds are very high it's just grab your nut-sack time. I'm shoving 100% when the effective stacks are 10BBs or less.
It just depends on the opponent and stacks (like spenda said) but i find myself limping like 10% of the time in hu sngs
dont do it if opponent is really aggro OOP, then you can just fold the complete trash
