200NL, QQ ran into strong resistance

villain (UTG) is 20/7/0.7 over 123 hands, sorta a passive player. I put his range on AK,88+ after the flop. So i'm behind lots of hands in his entire range and ahead of only TT-JJ or unlikely AK. Whats your line in this situation? Is it really a no-brainer if we decide to stack off and give him action on this strong board?

Preflop sucks; call or raise bigger. On the turn the pot is protected so you can either check and expect him to never bluff or bet a hand like TT, or make a very small value bet on both the turn and river. I think betting like 20$ on both streets could be a good play against many 200nl opponents.

they were both not full stack. I really wanted to flat call but its a 3 way pot OOP with QQ.

id make it more preflop which makes postflop pretty easy. Id be worried that UTG wants to play for stacks unless hes bad enough to spew off with JJ - which lets be honest at 1/2 on stars is everyone including some of he 'good' regs.

fwiw, id make it $26-32 pre commiting shorty to his stack and making flop play easy if we get there 3 ways. Im not as comfy stacking with QQ as i am with KK but in this spot we'll spew into slow played AA/KK sometimes

if you spewed into KK (not so much AA but same idea) give your opponent some credit for playing his hand good.
The more i look at this hand the more id have mixed feelings about squeezing an UTG raise even if it risks the hand going multiway.
I feel your opponents are so bad in 3 bet pots anyway or vs a squeeze that when you have AA/KK your getting paid by them anyway. Its not great poker but its how the game plays IMO

If you 3-bet, make it bigger. But are we really thrilled about 3-bet/stacking off against a villain who is probably raising less than 5% of hands UTG? I much prefer a flat, the UTG players range is going to be really easy to define post-flop and UTG+1 has a stack size that we probably aren't going to make too many mistakes against.

fair enough. I'm not going to 3 bet like its my job vs a 7% pfr UTG open any more. We both checked on the turn and he called my $60 river bet with KK.

id give the guy the guy some credit for how he played the hand
