Hi all, I'm an MTT donk, but I am sick of them and want to start playing cash. I normally want 100-200 buy-ins for MTT's but that seems a bit high for cash games. So what is a good amount of buy-ins for lower stakes?

depends on a few things.
1. have you played cash games at all before?
2. are you able to redeposit money if you were to go broke?
3. what level cash games are you going to start playing?
4. will you be able to move down limits if you run/play bad?
25-30 buyins is recommended now days for micros. I was always comfortable with 20 because i had no prob moving down levels and IF i were to go broke it wouldnt be a problem depositing a few hundred to start grinding nl10.
Its going to vary alot on who you talk to. If your playing nl10/nl25, 20-25 should be fine. If your going to start at nl100 or above (which i wouldn't recommend if you're truly new to cash games), 30 buyins should be safe.
yep
I recommend more than 30 since you're coming from a different style of game. There's going to be a period of adjustment, give yourself a few more to weather that storm.
Thanks guys...My BR is spread across 3 sites and I am rolled for 10nl on stars, 25nl on full tilt and 50nl on bodog. How big of a difference is there is between 10nl and 50nl?? If its not that much then I will feel comfortable playing all 3 levels, but otherwise I might just stick to 10nl and 25nl.
The main difference is the color of the chips.Quote:

consider the total amount of money you have to gamble with your BR. go play 50nl. move down when u drop below 25 buy ins.Quote:

Everyone's such a wuss about BR management, playing way over-rolled is almost as bad as playing under-rolled (assuming you can actually beat the level that is).
I'm from Europe? I can haz culture?Quote:

this. moving up to 200nl i waited until I had 25 buyins, but every level below that i took shots with between 17-20.Quote:

OK I will play 50nl on full tilt and bodog and just grind some sngs on stars. Thanks all.
Good luck sir. Is this your name on FT?
The only reason to have more than 20 buy ins for a given level is if you refuse to move down or if you require br withdrawals for life expenses.
That would be meQuote:
