I've been meaning to start this since the beginning of this year, but up until now I just havn't got round to it. Anyway, here is some shit about me.

I'm 21 years old and I live in the UK. I'm in my final year at the University of Birmingham studying Sport and Exercise Science (no I don't want to be a PE teacher tyvm). Once I've finished that I have no idea what I want to be doing which is just grand seeing as though its only about 5 months away.

I play 10NL 6max at the moment, although with the amount of online poker I've played I really should be playing at a higher level. But hey thats what happens when its rare for your bank account to have more money in it than your poker account and you keep on having to make withdrawals to pay for shit (and its also a result of prawning the tits off myself everytime I move to 25nl).

So anyway, life + poker goals for January:

1. Get into shape (typical post christmas shite)
2. Actually begin thinking about life post-University.
3. Get my BR to $750 so i can move on up to 25NL

Finally, I'm posting these stats as I'm sure someone will larf or berate me for them, and hopefully that'll be a kick start I need to focus on poker.

Thoughts on preflop bet sizing? I'm fine with 3bet sizing vs one villain, but given this is a squeeze do I need to make it bigger? FWIW I think my 3bet is too big here.
When BTN calls pre I'm thinking his range might be something like 1010, JJ, QQ, AK and maybe some more broadways like AQs, AJs.
So I flop a pair and cbet (unsure of cbet sizing here) which he calls. This confuses me and leaves me lost on the turn as I'd expect him to want to get it in with his big pairs and fold missed overs?

Please to be telling me what to do?

about that hand, what's villain's Attempt to steal%, to resteal you need to be sure that he's either
1. raising with a bunch of junk hands
2. going to fold most hands to the resteal
3 going to call your resteal, but then fold or c/f to any sign of agression

Another thing to note, is that at 25NL and under, and I heard even up to 100NL, reraising as a bluff or with suited connectors etc, really isn't necessary.

I'd fold or maybe call 25% of the time preflop (since 89 does good multiway and you still got position on SB), but since the SB is an unknown I don't really like this 3bet.

Anyways, back to your question... I think it's a pretty easy c/f on the turn. I mean, the reason why pros 3bet a polarized range (AA-QQ+AK and a few suited one-gappers/connectors) is because all of these hands are very easy to play postflop. If you 3bet with 89s then I wouldn't be very happy with any flop unless I got a straight flush draw, a draw and a pair, trips or two pair. Your one pair hand is really pretty useless in this case.

I like your 3bet size btw. You should try keeping all of your 3bet around the same size so that you can balance your range for 3bets (even though this really isn't important at 10NL...)

squeeze size is fine, as is the size of your c bet, now I think you have to check fold or hope to get to showdown.

Played about 1k hands at 10NL today for around about $14 if i remember correctly. Things have been going well since I switched back to 6max. Also cashed in an MTT today finishing 28/2.6k which was cool as I tend not to play that many - sucked to bust though, if I'd managed to double up I'd have had a decent shot at making a good final table finish. My January was disappointing, not enough hands, not enough monies, thats long gone now though. My Feb has been better re. volume, I've made GoldStar for the first time, but my winrate at 25NL is appalling to say the least. Im going to try and update this as often as I can. I just loved how he bet the river, leaving him with $6 behind and then manages to find a fold. proFISHent imo.

Like bjaust said, sticking it in on river is still ok. I think you can bet closer to $5-6 and still get called. Obviously your bet sizing isn't terrible, but I think betting a little more makes river shove easier.

Played 1k hands this morning, tables seemed soft and i ran goot = +$82 which was nice. I had AA a total of 9 times and got loads of action, +$63. I cant find any hands worth posting as everything went well, and I had no big losses and all my big wins were AA / sets / boats and pretty straightforward.

I think its safe to say that my Feb is over now, no more time for pokers. I have a load of people coming over to mine tonight for my GF's birthday and I need to sort the house out etc. Its her birthday tomorrow so once I'm over the inevitable hangover tomorrow morning its off over to hers to see her parents and have a meal and all that family stuff.

As you can see from the graph, I suffer from severe episodes of tilt/spew and it really dents my progress. This is clearly one of my biggest leaks and so its something im going to try and keep a close eye on throughout March. With that in mind, here are my goals for next month:

a. 50k+ hands
b. Winrate of 6bb/100+
c. Clear my $250 bonus on Stars

Thats still a pretty solid month despite the spewy spots. Congrats on putting in the volume, and nice work on the Gold Star :)

I notice that I have the same +tilt/spew after I have an upswing. I refuse to believe that it is always negative variance coming back to bite me in the ass. It has got to be me opening up too much and trying to take down too many pots in poor spots.

the thing that stands out most to me during those downswing periods is I notice myself iso-raising a far wider range than normal vs multiple limpers in worse positions.

for example, loose/passive UTG and UTG+1 limp, I iso from MP1 with stuff like 10Js etc. not the best idea when there is so much potential action behind me.

that and calling / shoving AI far too light pre and on flops, ldo.

I would really advise a prolonged attempt to move up.

- do not be afraid to lose a little money trying to make a lot more
- don't change anything about your game
- if you start to spew uncontrollably, move back to 10nl for the remainder of that session or stop playing. Next session try 25nl again assuming your tilty feeling is gone :)

Didn't have a chance to play yesterday, I was out until the evening and by the time I got home I was shattered as a result of the (very very goot) weekend I'd spent partying for my gf's birthday.

Early this morning I was having some issues with postgreSQL and HEM although as I'm writing this it all seems fine. (if you know your stuff re. postgreSQL I poasted a topic in the commune titled HALP! and I really would appreciate any input).

Once I found a more than likely temporary solution to the problem I was able to get two ~1k hand sessions in for a total profit of +$50.45. Pretty much very happy with how things went although I lost a BI during the last 300 hands due to a number of non-SD losses, a bad beat vs a short stacker and a shitty hand HU vs a loose/aggro donk who turned bottom 2 vs my TP. All in all though, ~10bb/100 so I cannot be complaining.

Off to the pub for food and a beer or two now, I'm gonna post a few hands from today later on this evening.

Another good session today, although at times I felt like I was spewing a bit making dodgy calls on early streets and I suffered a couple of suckouts from shortstackers here and there. Despite that, I got 3k hands in at 9.28bb/100 = +$70.40.

I seemed to have loosened up today as well, instead of running 13/10 I found myself running 15/12 (maybe thats why it felt a bit spewy, idk) and my attempt to steal rose from ~30% to ~40%. These weren't conscious changes I was trying to make, so maybe I was just hitting some cards!! I'll keep an eye on my stats to see how I play over the next couple of days.

Things are so simple at the little stakes can't be nice having to lay down top pair top kicker - Thankfully 25nl is a ways off. How do you change your playing at 25nl than how you play at 10nl? Just curious

Hey Slevin. To be honest I'm not sure there is much of a difference between 10nl and 25nl. I have always been able to beat 10nl but I did struggle a number of times whilst trying to move up to 25nl and I'm convinced the reason for that is me making it seem more difficult than it is.

When I moved up originally, I was sort of expecting everyone to play back at me more, and as a result I was playing back against them in some awful spots that I needn't be in at all. Once you realise you have a winning game at the level you're at now, simply play that same style when you move up - thats what im concentrating on doing now and so far so good.

The only noticeable difference between 10nl and 25nl imo is that 25nl has more regs (although gawd there are still a buncha feesh swimming around), and some of these regs are better at stealing / restealing / 3betting etc etc. Bunch once you work out who these guys are, and who the set miners are its the same game.

Preflop 3bettor is 13/10/3 with a 3bet% of 3, over 3.5k hands.
His 3bet% from SB and BB are 8% and 10% respectively. Im on a few tables of his and have folded to a couple of his 3bets recently on other tables.

BTN is 11/7/2.9 over 670 hands. His range here is almost entirely small-mid pp's with the occasional SC.


Despite this being a good spot for BB to 3bet, I don't 4bet because if I do he won't continue with anything except AK, QQ+. When he checks the flop I'm pretty sure he doesn't have AA/KK/QQ as he has no reason to slow play his big pairs. So I'm pretty sure BB has nothing, and imo BTN is only putting more money in the middle if he hits a set/straight.

I might be seriously overthinking this, but is this a bet or a check?? Thanks guys.

Another good day for me today (i must have been running good as I hit a sick two outer with an overpair vs a set getting AI on the flop - and I feel pretty shitty about it to be honest, but it happened)(wheeeeeee).

Played another two 2k hand sessions and was planning on playing a third but I can't be bothered and I don't want to play when I'm not "feeling it", if you will.

So, 2k hands at 9.08bb/100 = +$46.85

Just like yesterday I seem to have loosened up without consciously trying to do so. Today I ran 15/12 again, and my attempt to steal was 42% which is the highest it has ever been at full ring. I'm not entirely sure how its so high, as vs certain players I was actively trying to steal less due to getting in a few 3bet pots with them early on. Im interested to see if I maintain this looser style over the course of the month.

The last couple of days have been really shitty for me. I think I was starting to become too confident (lol at that happening after only 2-3 solid days) and then when I ran into quads at the start of a session I went on tilt/spew and didn't leave the tables quick enough.

So in the last 2 days I'm down something like 3 buy ins. Nothing awful or anything, just a little annoying to go on tilt this early into the month. Its really something I need to work on.

I'm going to play today, hopefully get around 2-3k hands in and then after that I'll post a full update and hopefully a couple of recent hands.

Its so fucking frustrating how much of a spew/tilt donk I can be at times. Today my poker efforts can be clearly split into 2 sessions, with each session being played by a "different" me.

Session 1 - I played 1k hands 6tabling (as I was half watching football on tv) and at the end of the session I was +$35. I played well.

Session 2 - Things started well enough, and then I ran into quads with a boat and from then it went downhill. I don't know why I'm so adament on letting a cooler send me into ultra spew mode. Second session lasted 500 hands and -$17.

So for the day, after 1.5k hands, I'm +$18.55. I may sound whiny as I still finished up for the day, but I'm never going to get anywhere if I cant make the most of the cards I'm dealt etc, if I'm constantly throwing money away throughout every session.

I'm not going to post hands because I probably won't know which ones to post. Instead I'm going to sit and watch Dawn of the Dead with ym housemates and get totally fucked up on Port. (despite my tilt, I have NO intentions whatsoever of pulling a Slev and donking away my roll tyvm).

drank a bottle of port, two large alcopops and then decided going for a night out was a goot idea. worked my way through ~ 12 bottles of beer (judging by the change in my wallet, as I can't really remember) and finally got into bed at about 5:30am.

woke up at 11am this morning to the sound of my housmate blaring drum and bass out like theres no tomorrow.

i haz headache. no poker until laters imo.

SHIP THE +$383 DAY IMO. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

After spending the morning and early afternoon getting over my hangover, I opened up 12 tables on Stars and played 2.3k hands. I made a conscious effort to not look at HEM at all during the session, and I really think it helped me. My problem is that if I look at a graph of my session during the session, and I see a big drop, I feel really annoyed and that inevitably leads to tilt/spew. I also d/c from IRC and closed FTR so that distractions were at a minimum. After the 2.3k hands I was +$93.

I decided to play the Sunday 200k GTD on Stars. I tend to play this most weeks, but before tonight I'd never really made it deep (past the first payout level anyway). Tonight went really well. I finished 126th out of 30,000 and won $300 - a tidy $290 profit. I busted w K5s vs AA (lol, std) as I was really short and if I had folded, I'd have been in the BB the next hand which was about 1/3rd of my stack. I'm obviously really really happy with how the tournament went.

Because of all this, my BR is now $1.5k+, the highest its ever been, so I'm rolled for 50NL. I havn't decided whether I'm going to move up or if I'm going to try and finish this month off at 25NL whilst trying to improve most areas of my game. I suppose I could still do this at 50NL.

There are a couple of things I noticed in todays session that I'm going to look at in HEM tomorrow, so I will post an update then as well. One of the things I'm interested in, is seeing how I'm doing when I 3bet preflop with AK and see a flop.

Now I really need to get to bed, its 3am and I have to be up in 6 hours for lectures. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but last nights sleep was lolshort.

The field is MASSIVE, 30,000 players usually. It is really soft though, so many bad players jump in for a shot at the 1st prize - $28.5k. The blind levels last 10minutes, and tbh, in the latter stages it pretty much plays like a turbo mtt. Also, the payout structure is wtf weird. Top 4270 get paid if 30k enter. But, the 2nd payout level doesnt start until there are 270 left, that means the first 4k players who bust ITM all get the same prize.

All that aside, its only an $11 BI, and for that you get a shot at huge money for a microstakes player, so I'd definately say its worth it.

One more thing - it takes a long time. I was playing for just under 6 hours last night to finish 126th.

Nice :) and if you are only withdrawing ~$150 you can still take a shot, cuz you will be above $1500, but if you aren't comfortable taking the shot, don't. Theres not "rule" that says you HAVE to move at a certain $ amount. Go at your own pace.

Decided to try 50NL on stars today for the first time. I played 8 tables in 2 sessions, totaling 1.2k hands. Didn't all really go to plan as I finished -$60 but I'm really not too disheartened, I mean, its just over a BI.

Played my biggest pot ever, which I lost ldo, getting stacked with a set under set. I also got it AIPF vs a 30BB stack, having my AA cracked by JJ. So its not as if I ran particularly well and still had a losing day. I also had an overpair vs a couple of donks, but 2 / 3 weren't up for putting money in post flop. Oh wells.

A couple of things I noticed:

[x] more regs (ldo)

[x] more 3 betting, particularly in CO/BTN/SB/BB situations - this is going to be something I need to work on, as up until now, I've pretty much avoided 3bet pots w/out the nuts. I also think im going to have to try and lower my Att Stl. % as I found myself being 3bet freqently with weak hands. In today's session, my Att Stl = 48.4% and my fold to 3bet = 90.5%. But its obviously early days so I'll see how it goes.

[x] the rate at which vpps/fpps are earnt at 50NL seemed MUCH higher than at 25NL.

I dont fold kk there vs a half stack basically evar, specially when he just shovels and we have the king spades.

Decided to try some more fiddyNL this morning, as I felt I got on alright yesterday and I was keen to work on lowering my att. stl % to make myself far less exploitable. Session was an epic success. I 8 tabled again as I'm still getting used to bet sizes / stack sizes etc and after 1k hands I'm +$149.30 which is gooooot stuff.

I felt the tables were pretty nitty at first, but a few orbits in and I spotted a couple of floundering feesh. I was sat directly to the left of one, and through the course of the session I took $55 from him. At one point I was sat with $152 (most ever at one table of course) as there was another feesh nearby who donated around $40.

I obviously ran goot, flopped a few sets and won decent pots with them, although I really misplayed one and missed out on a lot of value as the river brought a backdoor flush, and villain (according to him) managed to get away from AQ on Q7xQx. I had 77 and if he did have AQ then I'm 99% sure he's getting it all in on the turn - which I failed to notice at the time.

I havn't got time to post any hands as I need to get ready to go to Uni, but there are a couple I want to post so once I'm back I'll get on that.

I'm still at 5nl so take all my advice with a BIG (like HUGE) grain of salt, but I think I have a couple of nonretarded thoughts.

Hand 1
-PF and flop play are both fine.
-Turn, you already know your bet sizing was off, I think $12 would have been good, but at least $10 imo. This makes the pot $7 larger on the river and that would be more than what is left in his stack, but I doubt you'll be able to get him all in very often.
-On river, as played I tend to ignore minbets on the river, especially when holding the virtual nuts. I just act like they never bet and bet out ~$20-$22 here and let him call with a lot of bigger Ax's, pretty much any 6x.


Hand 2.
-OK, the guy is 14/12 and he opens UTG+1. He can have a lot of big pairs, AQ+, maybe KQ, but not a whole lot else imo. Standard setmine spot for you.
-On the flop, he standard c-bets into you for ~2/3 pot. Pretty much all of his range does this on this kind of flop, as your calling range PF can miss this most of the time. When he flats your raise, he can have AA/KK (like you suggested) but I'm leaning heavily toward AQ, or a suited KQ that doesn't want to put all his money in with TPGK.
-Turn when he checks I'm REALLY feeling a Qx here that doesn't want to bet to force out your bluffing reraise range on the flop, and by checking he thinks he can induce a bluff because its unlikely to have hit him as well. I think betting $10-$12 here would be good, but there is nothing wrong with checking it back.
-River when he bets so small, he's either doing this with air, or making it look like a weak bet to get you to raise over him. He could also have some AJ type hands, but I don't see him raising any of those in UTG+1 at FR. I say raise to ~$20 and call a shovel with a smile on your face.

Hand 3.
I'm not one for leading into a monotone flop without at least one of the suit in my hand, and I think your read that this guy isn't going to fold any club in his hand with the range that calls your 3-bet PF. I probably just c/f here and move on.

Alright man, I know I'm at stakes where I'm supposed to be pretty much brain dead, but hopefully there was something worthwhile in there.

2. i pretty much agree, although the more i think about it the more i dislike checking the turn. its not certain he dumps AA/KK to a turn bet so i get value from them as well as everything else i beat.
3. meh, i still dont know what to think. i dont think c/f ing the flop is necessarily that bad, but its super weak.

Yea in #2. hes obv not gonna get off of AA/KK even if you bet out there. If you do want to bet out I say still lead it for ~$10.

#3. yea its pretty weak, but what is your plan if he just calls? (obv if he raises ur folding). If he calls and its a blank. Do you lead again? if its a club do you c/f? Would u b/f a club? I just don't see where you can go right after the flop. I mean, I think he folds a lot of his range when it doesnt have a club in it, so its not the worst idea ever to cbet, but I just hate c/f a turn here, but you cant really continue on a turn, even if it is a blank.

lul, so I just donked off like $86 in a 160 hand session at fiddyNL. oh wells, still a winning day.

I think I raised about 8 hands preflop and missed every time. Each time was a good spot to cbet, which I did, but then I was either called or raised. Each time I was called the turn was shitty and I had to go into c/f mode.

Then I made a stupid call down w 1010 on Qxxxx and ran into AA. Obviously I should have just folded the turn, so fuck knows what I was thinking really.

Hopefully tomorrow will be, well, i want to say better, but i finished today at +10bb/100 so lets just say, a less spewy, more productive day.

Hand 1 raise turn more, he probs has a draw or a weak ace, he's lolbad so will call anyway. Plus this way you could've got it all in by the river, just raise like 3/4 pot or something.

Hand 2 is a pretty easy turn bet, I doubt he's folding AA/KK to one bet and I'm pretty sure AQ will be felting. Once u check turn you have to raise river ldo. make it like 20 or something, but he's probably folding to the blockbet raise.

Hand 3, I cbet as we have a lot of FE - might be a leak. Otherwise just c/f if your in weak mode.

Played in the $11 1R1A MTT last night, made it past the second break and then buusted around 400th (1k entrants, 117 ITM) with QQ vs AJ AIPF. Flop came 777, turn brought a 9 and I was counting my chips until the case 7 hit on the river and I sulked as I watched the pot slide towards the opposite side of the table. -$31 but now thats < 1 BI ldo, so no big deal.

Played another 8table 1k hand session of 50NL today. Still feeling a little out of place and I often feel like I'm looking for reassurance whilst making a lot of decisions that I probably see as standard when I'm sitting with a $25 not a $50. Fortunately for me, Muzzard was sweating for most of the session and helped me in a few spots I was unsure in.

Results for the day are 1.1k hands @ 11.71bb/100 = +$65.00

Aside from poker, life is pretty busy at the minute. I've just started doing the analysis for my University dissertation and thats going to be a lengthy process. Worst part is I have to have it all finished and set up in a poster presentation I give in front of lecturers / professors on the 20th March. I'm 1/4 of the way through it at the minute and hope to have it finished by the end of this week (Sunday). In fact, if I don't have it done by then and anyone on here says, "Hey Sil, you finished your analysis yet"? and I answer No, then I'll ship you $50 on PokerStars.

Social life has been a bit shitty recently, utility bills are just about to wittle the bank account down to my last £50ish, and with a trip back home planned for the 17th March (St. Paddy's Day - and one of my best mates 21sts) it looks like I'm going to have to withdraw around $200 just to keep enough cash lying around. However, I fully intend / aim to have $1500+ in the BR after this withdrawal so I can continue plodding away at 50NL.

Woke up this morning and did a bit more of my Uni analysis (if you don't know what I'm on about read the end of my last post imo) before deciding to try some more 50NL. Again, I played 8 tables until I reached 1k hands. Results for the day are 1k hands @ 40.13bb/100 = +$207.65. See below garf:

I actually really feel like playing some more poker, and I did after my session yesterday. But for the time being, I think its safer for me to take things slowly and not get ahead of myself - by not playing more 50NL later on, I'm guaranteed to have an awesome winning day (I know this seems incredibly results oriented, but its something that I'm certain will help my confidence as I try to move up to 50NL permenantly at my first attempt).

Another problem with playing more tonight, is that I now know how I got on this morning. During sessions I'm actively not looking at HEM to see my progress in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of me goign on tilt. If I were to start up again and lose a big pot straight away, in my head I'll picture a big dip on my graph, be annoyed at myself for playign another session and then I'll be on tilt.

That said I'll probably donk around in a few MTTs or something to keep me occupied.

3. hmmm, the way it panned out I would c/r river. Coz i think if he bluffs flop, then he must bet this turn esp with air and he can't really have Kx so I think air is a big part of his range. But then you feel dumb when he checks back. But I think he's folding anyway if we lead out.

So I said I'd post some hands from todays session, and I've just been looking through them but tbh there's really nothing interesting. Its pretty much all sets getting paid, overpairs etcetc and the couple of pots I did have trouble with seem pretty straightforward now. So yeah, ship the goot day imo.

So I installed a new windows update earlier on, and now postgreSQL (and ultimately HEM) won't work. I have had postgreSQL problems before but I managed to sort that out by reinstalling the programme. Unfortunately this time, that has not worked so fuck knows what I'm going to do now.

So, now I'm not in the worst mood ever, I'll elaborate on the HU match vs Kfaess in Round 1 of the Noob HU MTT:

I basically luckboxed the first match as a semi bluff shove I made on the turn resulted in me rivering a flush to beat Kfaess' TPTK hand in a 4bet pot.

He took down the 2nd match making a very good call on the river with 2nd or 3rd pair after i shoved what was left of my stack with nothing but a busted draw.

Third match finished with an interesting hand. I can't remember it exactly but I basically raised K's cbet w bottom pair. He shoved and I called. He didn't hit his FD and one of his overs was tainted.

All in all I think it was a good game that could in all honesty gone either way.


Now that I have HEM working, I can get a session of 50NL in tonight me thinks. I'm skint outside of my BR so I'm not out on the piss tonight which pretty much sucks. I'll also try and get some more of my dissertation analysis done tonight and make this evening as productive as possible.

Fairly good 1k hand session I just managed to put in at 50NL. Finished up +$35 which is always good. There were a couple of spots I feel I maybe could have played better but overall I'm happy with how things went. An interesting thing I'm noticing more and more at 50NL is that I'm actively looking for the big fish at the table. Whilst I was at 25NL it was a bit like I was watching out for the nits, now its the other way round.

Hand 1- Due to their stack sizes, a raise to $7 commits you anyways.. might as well shove instead and get rid of any draws rather than laying better than 2-1 odds.

Hand 2- I think this is an easy fold. You are behind a lot of his range and the range you are ahead of has 40% equity.

Hand 3- Fold pf.. Expect to see 33, 66, 99, 93, 96 a lot.. the only hands you beat likely fold here. I wish I had a nickle for all the times I flopped bottom two pair in a multiway pot and lost my stack.

Yesterday was a weird day, with lots of changes to my poker BR going on.

Another losing day for me today. Played 1k hands at 50NL and finished down 2 buy ins.

One buy in was lost due to a suckout, I had a set and got it all in on the turn against AQ which turned top 2, only for the river to pair the Q on the board and give villain a higher full house. I completely butchered the hand in retrospect, but I still got my money in good.

The rest of my losses came from a string of shitty showdown and non showdown losses. I lost a couple of medium sized pots and a number of small pots that at the end of the session all added up.

I guess I can't complain too much, its not like every day is going to be a winning day (as Muzz has told me 2 or 3 times already, as I really like to complain about it).

When it came to the river I was a bit unsure if I should be betting or c/calling. Looking back now, betting small seems like the best play to get value from smaller pairs. Is this too thin? I am obviously bet/folding, but is a check/call here better?

Hand 1 seems fine to me and I'm not sure I bet/fold the river. I think it's thin if it's there at all. His AF of 3.5 could indicate a run of good cards or someone prone to betting - but he wouldn't necessarily bet a queen even if he has it and the hands you get value from that you beat is pretty much only 88,99.

Hand 2 is so uncomfortable because he's a shorty. I'd be tempted to just dump it pre. If I had a read on him I might shove pre and hope to see a coin flip with an AK type hand, but incompetent shorties who min-raise preflop in my experience wants you to call - and that typically means that they have a higher pair than 99. Lower pairs or AK type hands tend to get raised bigger for fold equity. The flop doesn't really change anything except that it doesn't give you a draw and you could speculate that if he had a heart draw he could be betting that.

Hand 3 only really makes sense to me as a club draw or a set, but AcKc is almost certainly out where AcJc or KcQc might be in. Except of course if he's one of those people who never 3bets AK. Even with a PFR of 8 I guess he can occasionally have something like QcJc, JcTc or maybe even smaller, but it wouldn't be normal. I mean, we end up on a flop with an SPR of 5.x - it's pretty close to just stacking off and not thinking twice. Ok, sets will slowplay some of the time, KQ will play like this some of the time especially if you are a predictable aggro monkey who tries to steal orphan pots and if he has a club for the backdoor flush draw. Club draws we are ahead of even though they have good equity against us. If we had more money behind I'd be thinking if it's possible to call and pot control but even if villain covered us we have 1 PSB left after the flop raise. Calling the flop raise we're basically committed - and with the current stacks we're definitely committed. I'm tempted to say it's marginal and possibly not a big difference EV wise between shoving and folding, but I think ultimately I should come out in favour of folding due to the relatively low AF. Disgusting as it sounds I'm actually putting him on a set here as his most likely holding with these stats and this line. If sets are 7 combos and we can find 7 combos of flush draws it's still a fold - as the flush draws have much better equity against AK than we have against the sets.

I'm not particularly qualified to comment of course.

Went back to winning ways yesterday, I played 1k hands at 50NL (I 12 tabled for the first time at 50NL) and it went really well, I ended up +$107. There were a couple of weird pots, in that I value shoved on either the flop or turn, thinking I had little to no fold equity, and 2 or 3 times villain folded. So that was pretty odd. Maybe people like trying to bluff me lulz.

No chance to get pokers in today, I woke up early to try and get 1kish in, but the tables seemed really nitty and I couldn't be arsed with that. Not one bit.

So its my mate's 21st today, and I'm well happy I came back from Uni to go out today. Hand 1: I'm not sure you can bet here , either. You only beat 99, 88, 55, 33. He can't call another bet without a Q, an over pair or a set. IMO its Qx here a ton.

Hand 2: Even though its only 9 hands, stats that skewed are more than likely just about right for his normal play. He doesn't raise and he 3bet you preflop. He should have a big hand here, right? I might be tempted to call one street with my over pair and see what happens on the turn, if he can fire two barrels then good for him. Feels gross either way though.


Hand 3: Sick. You underrepresented your hand preflop and flopped exactly what you were looking for. Have you seen this guy check/raise flops after raising from early position pre? I don't know if I like flatting his flop 3bet. IMO anything other than folding is going to lead to you being committed.

Yesterday was such a good day / night. In the pub for 12:30pm and back home at 2am - so a good 13 1/2 hour session. Thats me in the rather fetching hat, the glowsticks were given out in 3s for every 4 pints of Guinness you bought. I am wearing some sort of belt / crotch frame device made up of 12 glowsticks, so that = 16 pints. Good times!!

An extremely drunken night had by all, the birthday boy spent the last 2 hours or so completely naked in the beer garden, and apart from that I cannot remember what was going on at all. Most of my mates who were there work, so they were rather generous in buying me a shit ton of drinks so I didn't spend as much as I thought I was going to. So glad I came back for it.

I was pretty sure today was going to be a write off, but I actually feel fine now I've had something to eat and drink so there will more than likely be poker in todays schedule.

The work I had to have finished for this Friday has had its deadline moved until Monday, which is such good news as it means I now have the weekend to do it. It also means I can stay home for an extra day and make full use of a house that is full of food / drinks and doesnt smell like the inside of an old dirty shoe. WHEEEEEEEE!!!

I managed to get 1k hands in today. I played two 500 hand sessions which is somethign I don't usually like doing, but after the first 500 hands I just couldn't concentrate as I was still feeling the effects of last night.
