Getting thin w Rockets vs Griffey

I have been running well vs him and he knows I just made a huge call and won a big pot vs a reg w AK unimproved on J9457 then won a big pot vs him when I checkraised a boat huge on the riv and got called by his trips. Shortly after that he 4-bet my squeeze and I shoved 130bb's deep and he tanked and folded.

2-5$, 600$ deep

I raise :as: :ah: on btn, griffey and an unknown call from the blinds

flop is :qh: :js: :5d:

checked to me, I bet little under pot, griffey snaps and bb folds

turn is :3h: pot is about 140$

griffey insta-checks and I insta-check behind

river is :7s: and board now reads :qh: :js: :5d: :3h: :7s:

he leads for 100 I insta-shove for 420$ more

Just get your money in on the turn. There is so much bullshit going on that you have to feel pretty good about it.

why people ever insta do anything boggles my mind. one really easy way to make yourself tougher to play against is taking time before acting even if your line is already planned. doing so is a critical component of being balanced

I completely agree, but when you have mastered this technique you can gain an edge by acting fast with hands your opponent expects you to take time with and vice versa. In theory at least.

Are you sure you got the timing right in this hand?

I'm pretty sure I didn't snap call the flop, based on what I had here, but I might have checked pretty fast on the turn.

I agree with Fnord though that its a little FPS instead of just barreling.

Yeah when I first looked at the hand I couldn't understand why you didn't just barrel 3 streets, from previous history it seems as if there is some mistrust between you so why not take advantage of that fact. Also though your not repping a whole lot on the river it's such a bad card to bluff griff will nearly always have to give you credit, plus the 7 could hit you as a number of raggy 2 pairs, 46, are in your btn raising range.

I dunno grif I remember thinking "ok he can have 2 hands that beat me and a tonne that are calling flop to re-evaluate turn. hmmm he called really quick so he's folding the turn quite a bit".

Agree with Mass unless ur trying to lvl or something bet less on the flop.

Obv bet turn, your hand has great stacks value if you're the one betting.

I would do this if there is a flush draw out there. It's a pretty wet flop. I tend to bet closer to the pot on wet flops and usually half pot on dry flops.

i was wondering more about the riv shove after pulling some fps on the turn
