It was originally wu fwugy, a word I made up, not really english. Wu-FWU-gy, second syllable emphasis, first two vowels half way between long and short, hard g, short y. Phonetically maybe something like wu = 'wou' part of 'would', fwu = same but starting with f, gy = gee as in McGee not Reggie
Now it's pretty much the same except wuf-wug-y, short vowels. There really is no correct pronunciation anymore. Other variations that have been used over the years include wufy wu, wugwufy, wufuguy, and cunt
