depends on what the vpip is I guess. if for example i'm running hot with a huge vpip/pfr and there are fish that match that vpip then i'll likely stay. otherwise it's not hard to leave the table and find another where people are playing with 3x+ my vpip
depends on players, their position, their stack sizes, reads
example 1 - your longterm vpip is 13, you are at a table with 7 3-0 uber-nits and an 83-0 whale. You're deep and ip vs the whale. Obviously you stay and take a lot of blinds + play a lot of pots HU vs the whale
example 2 - same table vpip, but composed entirely of players 18-12 to 8-5, the ubernits to your right, the less nitty to your left.
i'm sure you can figure out what to do, and that your responses will differ across tables. I don't think table vpip is a very useful stat at all.
I usually leave when my VPIP/PFR is the highest at the table, and that has mostly to do with the fact that I'm impatient and try to seek stacks instead of just chiseling away 4-12bb at a time from tight players. I'm not as good at playing that game compared to playing vs whales.
For that to happen though, everyone's vpip has to be below 20, which I don't encounter too often. There's usually one 40+ vpip, and I'll just target him, and keep cbet/folding when a tight player comes into the hand.
The table average should never really affect your table decision. It doesn't tell much about the exact texture of the table. It is nice to glance at and CHECK tables that have meh averages...but the average ITSELF shouldn't make you leave.
Consider this 6max table:
SB: 3/1
BB: 11/10
UTG: 11/10
MP: 41/39
CO: 44/40
BU (Hero): 22/20

And yeah, it depends... depends who's sat to my right, and depends who's sat to my left.
When I noticed this, the table vpip was at about 25 and so was mine and I was up a BI. So I tightened up a bit and left the table after winning another BI.
If the table vpip was at 12 and so was mine and most of the players were 10-14 vpip I would usually leave but should I open up and hang around a while?

That being said, most of the time when there's fish, the table vpip is higher than yours, but that's no reason to come up with useless blanket statements like "if the table vpip is equal or lower to yours after 60 hands then probably fornicate yourself with a spiked dildo until you leave the table" etc.
