what is a standard thanks giving meal then? Starter, main, pud etc

I'm cooking on Friday for the gf and thought I might US theme it - a day late, but whatever.

Do I have to cook a turkey? Theres only two of us.

They usually have a turkey breast at the grocery store, but yeah, turkey, potatoes, other assorted veggies, stuffing, gravy. Then for dessert you usually do something pumpkin, like pie or cake!

Sunday dinner tends to be chicken, beef or pork, sometimes lamb. We generally eat turkey at Christmas. Cranberry sauce comes out at Christmas too, fuck knows why 'cause it's rank.

What's the point of Thanksgiving anyway? Is it just like Christmas II? Just another way to get you muppets spending more money?

the name is pretty self explanatory. Its kinda nice not having a holiday with hella religious overtones....its just about eating a shit ton and giving thanks for what you have. Cliffs of why it started, americans landed on a rock ....were starvinngs....indians helped...we had big dinner.....next 300 years we raped and pillaged their poeple, land, and way of life in a show of gratitude.
