[25NL] My very first 25NL hand. Line check

So, I got a nice welcome to 25NL. This is my very first hand...

I absolutely hate my turn c/r sizing, it's fucking awful. I don't know what I was thinking, I think I was taken aback by being in a different sized pot/different stacks etc for the first time. I much prefer a c/r to like $6.80 or $7 given how wet this board is and stack sizes.

By the river, I feel like I have the best hand very often but villain shoves on me which I wasn't expecting at all.

Thoughts?

You already pointed this out, but yah turn sizing is waaay too small given you're OOP and how drawy board is. I would pound it, not expecting KJ/KQ to find a fold given the drawiness. River b/c is fine.

turn c/r is signficantly too small.

Yeah you need to make it more on the turn, but on the river you made a mistake as well. You sized your bet in such a way that you win the minimum when ahead and lose the maximum when behind. You should bet closer to the pot since you intend on calling it off vs a flush anyway. That way when he has a flush you lose about the same amount as you gain when he calls with worse. Given you only bet 8, you can possibly fold to the jam since he has a flush over 80% of the time by now, but I would have avoided the whole decision by betting more to start.

Ah right OK. My sizing was pretty small because I figured I'm way ahead here so often and the board is pretty wet, so I thought I had a better chance of like 2 pair/sets making a call if I size it a little smaller...is that bad logic?

It's fine logic but since when do people at 25nl fold two pair and sets regularly? I think generally speaking, when it doubt you should bet or raise more, not less, especially on later streets. Remember that in order for a value bet of half the size to be as profitable, it must be called twice as much. There are a ton of situations where betting 10 gets called like 75% of the time and betting 20 gets called 45%.

10*0.75=7.50, 20*.45= 9.50.

It's easy to fall prey to the allure of small value bets since they seem to get called so much, just try to resist.

That said, once you get a lot better you'll revisit this and find loads of spots where it's appropriate to bet 25% pot on the river for value with a nutted hand. That just comes later.
