Because a nameless fighter pilot is not the heir apparent of the Austro-Hungarian empire. I'm really not sure why CNN is busting its tabloid journalism nut so hard over this.
And also not assassinated by a sub-population that was ready to explode and the backing of another nation to do it (if I'm remembering correctly, which would be a feat).
I think they're going to want to avoid war, Turkey being in NATO and Russia having a lot on its plate, but they're both going to try to look like their doing right by their people. So you'll see them continue to retaliate without those retaliations being obvious provocations for war. Like Russia trying to pass a law enshrining the truth of the Armenian Genocide, or Turkey dumping arms into the hands of Syrian forces that Russia doesn't like.

Turkey warned Russia days in advance of "serious consequences" if Russia did not stop attacking ISIS. Turkey aren't too impressed with the attacks because it's compromising their supply of cheap oil from ISIS, which of course is stolen from Syria or Iraq.
