Ouch, that's tough.
I couldn't have seen any sign that he had a pocket pair, let alone 7s until that 7 came down. Tough break. Sorry.
Hey, I took your advice and took my last $12 out of the ring games and into tournaments, $5 + $1. I know the rake is horrific on these, but I'd rather play 2 tournaments than 1
I have only played 1 of them. I was in the chip lead for a while, but ended up 4th (Just out of the money, DANG!) I lost most of my stack when I went all in on a tripped pocket pair. he called with an outside straight draw and got it.
I lost the rest with top pair, good kicker to top pair better kicker. (I knew he only had 1 pair, I though I had him out kicked and was trying to get him to fold.)
But I was happy with my performance. I have 1 last tournament before I am out of money. Thanks for the advice. I'll try and turn it around.
I wish I could even count the number of times I've lost top 2 pair vs. 3 of a kind. It's really one of the hardest laydowns to make, IMO. It's so easy to convince yourself that he's got some weaker 2 pair hand even if the board just doesn't go along with that. Or you just convince yourself that the other guy is bluffing. Or you say to yourself "Damn it, he made a set" and yet you STILL find yourself clicking on the Call button. At any rate, being able to lay down top two pair with no flush/straight draw made is something I just haven't yet been able to do :?
I don't think the problem here is slow playing a pretty strong hand. I think the mistake is slow playing a pretty strong hand in a 6-way pot, where there are probably a bunch of draws against you (I would fear the A-T straight draw) and you're likely to get action from someone anyway.

I'd be betting at least 3/4 of the pot with top 2 pair and 2 hearts on board as well as fruity str8 draw's.
I think if the hand aint raised pre-flop u HAVE to assume ppl have draw's against u. If u raise that pre-flop then at least u know ppl calling (in general) have either a pocket pair or face cards. [poss suited connectors].
But here it aint raised so how u know some1 aint got the nut flush draw ? how u know some1 aint flopped trips... even if u bet 3/4 of the pot and some1 calls..u gotta think..has he hit trips already..has he got flush AND str8 draws ? Helps u too slow down b4 its too late.
Sure every1 has heard this 1000 times..its better to win many small hands than to lose a monster.
