I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a set of poker chips.
16 oz arent really a standard size in casinos and neither are the metalic feature. Have you tried using a link from FTR to find some chips?
I was looking online about a week ago to find some chips and I found that ebay's prices and prices you will find online arent very different, and in some cases are more expensive.
Home Poker Tourney has an extensive pokerchip review. Check it out.
As far as the Tangiers chips go. I haven't heard too much that has been positive about them. They are either too heavy or too dull. But they certainly are different.
I guess it's a matter of personal choice.

My concern is that the small stripe color edges make the denominations hard to see from a distance.
Notice the small stripes on the sides.

Compare them to these:

Does any of ya'll have those type of chips with small stripe color edges?
Anybody have difficulty with the smaller stripes to determine denomination?
I've always liked the High Roller and 4 Aces chips. I think those would make for a great home poker set. Especially the 4 Aces, since htey have so many different denominations to pick from. Playing with the brass chips would make me feel like I broke open the piggy bank and am throwing quarters around.
I like heavy chips, but it seems like 16g would be too heavy.
If money's no object, check out these chips:

The photos at that site don't do them justice, so here's a better pic of the $100 "Rounder" chip from eBay (which only sells the sample set of 4):

I got the sample set (to use as card markers), and they are beautiful. Pricey as hell, though.
I don't really care for those chips because they are too heavy and I don't really like the cosmetics of them. However I love those 4 aces chips. When I get a new set those are what I am going to get.
wow, you're right, very pretty chips... I had to buy a sample set too.Quote:
