advice

First im not sure if this has to go in home games, because this has to do with playing in person not online. My apologys if i am wrong, but i came here for a strategy advice.

I play with a regular group of friends, usually small tournaments of 6 people winner takes all. On this particular night I had collected the majority of ALL the chips. With one person still against me heads up. Now this person almost always folded when i bet pre flop, very frusterating. This person is playing a very tight game. Now after consistantly better pre flop he evenutally must bet into my game. Although my luck has changed and im not catching the best hands, but neither the worst. I find the only way i can get a bet down is to re raise him, which usually means he has the better hand. All in all he has a good tactic i guess with some luck on his side calling some bluffs. Now i guess the question is how do i get him to slip up? Play more agressivly constantly? Force him to do or die?

What is the blind structure like? By the time you are heads up - with such a big chip lead, he should be getting eaten alive by the blinds to keep folding like that.

I agree, the blinds should be eating him. With that type of player I'd normally take his blinds and fold after the flop if I don't have a really good hand and he bets because he must have something. I love slowplaying tight players as well. They haven't played a hand in so long that even when they get something semi playable they play it for more then it should be played. You can slightly reraise and he'll think you're bulliyng him, might evne push him all-in.

lol this is my faviorate to be heads up against. The way i win these is to tune up my agression, when he switches gears and starts calling then I'll start throwing in all in's on Ax two face cards Pairs, ect. Make him make the tough calls until I can see his pattern of weakness then snap him :). Exspecially when they start thinking they are "catching up"

You guys are right, i guess i knew the answer all along! The fact is i had been playing for about 6 hours and drinking (lol) I guess I lost my patience. I should have played very tight with such a good lead, and waited untill he lost his patience and I caught the right cards.

This is so true.. I'm always amazed when I'm short stacked and the table lets me see the flop for cheap while I'm on the blinds. If you have the stack, you should always make a short stack pay to see anything. This is especially true heads up. If they push and you have crap, you can fold for relatively cheap. If they make the mistake to do that when you have something, you get a nice pot an eliminate someone...

well originally I had been better consistantly pre flop, and he hit a run of good cards, and called me on some bluffs where i tried to muscle him. He got a BIT of his chips back and i started to shy away.

Thanks for the advice tho, with a comanding lead it makes sense to make a short stack PAY PAY PAY, i know this because some of my friends have done this to me! :)

Heads up, If you have someone who is weak you can DOMINATE them easily..

Case in point, small $10 buy-in tourney with friends. I get headsup at the end with the chip leader, he has me by 7:1 easily. While we were setting up to go heads up he said he hated heads up play, and oculd never play well. VA-VA-VOOOM! I pushed hard and fast. He folded ALOT.

I raised EVERYTHING, if he raised, I went all-in over top with any Ace. He folded almost everything. By the time he had a playable hand I had almost evened the stacks. I Picked up QQ and he pushed with AKs I moved in he called my ladies held up. Now it was 7:1 chip lead my favor. (he gave up and quit)

In this particular game i ended up against a new comer who was pretty much the only new comer, who i had only played against once before, in that particular game neither of us won
