What do you do when the table thinks your a rock?

I have been playing Party now for several months and alot of multitabling, i have about 30,000 hands (yes I have been playing alot). I have the feeling that since when I sit down at a table, since I recognize many people everytime, that they have a idea that I am a rock. The reason I see this is I rarely get any callers when I raise and when I show strength. While sitting at the same table others will get action all the time. I know if people have pokertracker they will see my 15% flops seen # and PF raise # of 7.34. If I sit for a long while and dont get any action when I have the cards, I will generally just get up and leave and try to find a table with other people.
Are there any other ways to take advantage of this problem? I know I could try to blind steal more often, but risking 5BB to win 1 1/2BB doesnt seem very worth while. Though I suppose that if I do it enough, they could get the attitude of "he cant have great hands all of the time" and maybe I would get more action. Anyone have any other ideas? I did change my screenname on Party to hopefully disguise myself.

BTW.Thanks to all who have given me sympathy thru my recent BAD BEAT MARATHON. I am really dumbfounded on my peaks and valleys. I dont think mine are normal. For example, This month playing almost everyday for 4 or 5 hrs on average. Oct 1st - 16th - 15 winning sessions UP $2200 :D :D . Oct 16 - 25th 1 winning session and several really bad losing sessions - down $1200 :x :x - Last three nights 3 winning sessions UP $1300 :shock: :shock:. So at the moment I am up $2300 for the month. It is nice to know I control the losing sessions to some extent but I havent figured out to control the winning ones. DANG IT :lol:

Try smooth calling and Post flop agression? Check-raising?

Obviously, make sure that you are at a table that is acknowleging your rockitude.

If they're folding almost every time you show strength, keep buying the blinds until they get sick of it. They'll start playing back at you eventually, and then the game will get on a more even keel. Even better, limp into more pots than usual and then drop thermonuclear bets any time you sense weakness (lots of checks or "feeler" bets). You'll buy a lot of small pots right on the flop until, again, they get sick of your crap and start playing back at you. That's when you can safely retreat to a tighter mode of play. And hopefully you'll hit a great hand around that point and take down a big pot because they think you're still just buying. (It's all about timing.)

pick on people. in other words, if you've got some loose passives that act before you, raise the pot every time they limp in. at some point, they'll get pissed and push back at the wrong time.

if you really want to be annoy them, start doing some 72 off type bluffs, and if everyone folds, show your cards.

It's online. One third the table is oblivious and another third is playing 3 other tables. A quarter of the table will bust/leave with an hour. #$&% table image.

Raise up a couple marginal hands. Raise a suited connector from UTG. Make a couple extra stabs. Just kick up the aggression a notch, don't go for a silly play for "table image."

on party it's probably not worth it...but i find on pokerstars a lot of them actually do pay attention.

I'd pay attention if someone had an icon like yours hyper. I agree with fnord's comment about table image; I don't think it really matters because the majority of people are playing many tables or, like me, doing homework. I know it's a good idea to pay attention to how other people play but when you're in college it's tough to play poker for hours straight and keep patience while doing nothing else when you have a ton of other things to do. So I'm jsut an example I suppose of why table image doesn't really matter.

Go "nutbar"

Nutbar is when you say for the next 20 minutes I will raise 4x the BB with any hand that you can limp on from (and this is important) THE BUTTON. So your going to be real loose for 20 minutes. The goal here is not to win money but, to actually try and break even. It is a great excercise to help you make better post flop decisions and improve your overall play. I am not saying to automatically bet the flop here either. Bet if you catch and check if you miss.

So you play SUPER LOOSE preflop and TIGHT AGGRESSIVE post flop.

Plus, you get the added bonus of looking like a loose fool for 20 minutes.

You will get lucky and catch some monster every once in a while. That's when it gets real fun.

You start raising every hand and it becomes a freaking push fest preflop after 10 minutes. If you don't wanna do it in limit, try pot limit for the betting structure of NL and the added bonus of only calling big reraises and not allins when you wanna play.

Well if people are pegging him as a rock and not giving action, then they are paying attention. Also, anyone who has money in the pot when you fold everyone out and show them your stone cold bluff, better believe they'll remember that, no matter how little attention they're paying. I think an occasional "silly play" is worth it against poor players because it will make them more eager to give you their money. Other than that, this and the rest of the tips in the this thread are good advice.

As for the nutbar strategy, sounds like my usual NL 6-max strategy. :D Although lately I have discovered that weaker, tighter play preflop seems to be more profitable.

But you're ONLY raising hands that you would limp with from the button, in addition to the hands you would normally raise with. You're not raising every hand. That's only like what, a quarter of the hands you're dealt in 20 minutes? I doubt that people are gonna go ape just cuz you're raising a few more times.

I was raising with a wider vareity of hands. Like anything that looked connected at all and some hands i saw win a pot one time. :P

I admire Daniel Negreanu a lot.. hes my second favorite player (phil Ivey), but I think that this nutbar thing is that great, unless your the big stack at your table.. IMO nutbar will only succeed if you are really lucky and catch a monster or two with suited connectors, but more times than not youl end up loosing money.

Nutbar is not about short term gains. He states that your goal is to break even over the nutbar period but in doing so strength your ability to make post flop reads AND get into the mind of the always dangerous successful LAgg player.

This strategy will actually make you money. Maybe not during the 20 minutes you become loose aggressive, but that next 20 minutes.......... it only takes 1 hand to double up in the game I play.

This strategy was intended to do two things for the originall poster. The first was to lose the reputation of being the "ROCK" at the table. The second was to help him improve his overall ability to play the game.

I even told him that he was NOT trying to WIN money when doing this. But, rather, trying to break even.

Bottom line is this. If I can do something that will increase my odds of getting called when I do have the nuts and, at the same time, do an excersice that will improve my ability to win at the game. Well, in my opinion, I made money.
