What's he write about?

Science fiction, but he also had books in almost all 10 categories of the due decimal system (except for one I believe). The movie Bicentennial man and I robot are idea borrowed from him. He wrote books such as "Foundation" and Caves of Steel. I would recommend him to anyone.
I, Robot is a very good Asimov book.Quote:

If you like Asimov, you may want to try some Robert Heinlein out too.
Hmm, sounds like something nice to make my roommate read me before I go beddy-byes.
zzZZZzzz

(Not that they sound boring, I just get really tired when I force him to read to me)
Does he spoon with you and then tuck you in too?
I make one post about making my room mate my bitch and you fly WAY off the handle and assume we're cuddling at night? Get jer mind outta the gutter!

Ha thats the first time I have ever heard someone else mention his name. That guy has published like 1000 books. He wrote full time for like his whole life and ended up dying of aids from a blood tranfusion I believe it was. That dude was crazy. He is very cool though.
didn't asimov also write 2001: a space oddessy, and 2010 too? those were ok pics. i'm more of a tom clancy fan myself, but the sum of all fears movie sucked. it's all about hunt for red october.
(in thick sean connery accent)
"and ryan, somethings in here don't react well to bullets"
......classic.
Let's not put those words too close together. People might get funny EyeDeas!Quote:

well, if you guys were all girls, that might be a good thing, but you're not, so i will refrain from using the word "thick" to describe aging movie stars.

!Luck, If you don't recognize my name, then you haven't gotten to the good stuff yet :)
I really enjoyed Asimov. As well as his fiction I would also recommend his non fiction essays. He has a knack of making all sorts of subjects understandable and intresting.
However, I'm with thepokerdude regarding Tom Clancy. His books are my absolute favourites.
Asimov has some good stuff. I liked the foundation series and the I robot series.
if you like science fiction, these two are great:
Snow Crash by neal stephenson
the guy can't write an ending to a book to save his life, but there's a ton of great stuff in there. To give you and idea here's one line, talking about a pizza delivery guys car: "You wanna talk contact patches? The deliverator's car has contact patches the size of a fat lady's thigh."
Ender's Game by orson scott card
first book to win the hugo and nebula awards. asimov got it published i think. really good story.
If you like asimov's style but don't care about the science fiction so much, you might like kurt vonnegut. stick to the old stuff like slaughterhouse five.
And, because they are just kick ass books, fight club, survivor, choke or invisible monsters by chuck palahniuk. skip diary and lullaby, they kinda suck. no big surprises in fight club if you've seen the movie.
+1. This is a great book, along with the follow-up Ender's Shadow. It's the same story, but from Bean's point of view. Very cool.Quote:

Foundation and Earth was such a treat - and the shitty thing is that it's out of print. It took me a long time to find a copy.
I just amazon it seems as though they have foundation and earth. I assume you have read all his stuff. between the robot series and foundation series and the empire series what do you think is best.
I've only read the Robot and Foundation series.. It's hard to differentiate fully between them because they intertwine so nicely. But I think I'd have to say that Foundation is better as a master planned universe.
Here is a very intersting article, i would put in a different thread but after you read it, you will see my reasons for putting it here:).

I hate reading.
Holy shit now its even crazier that you mentioned his name. I was cleaning off my desk cause it was cluttered with various things and I hate clutter. Well what do I find. Under a skydiving book I find this book on relativity by einstein and on the back it says "you will also enjoy ... ASIMOV ON ASTRONOMY with 40 photographs." Ha I cant believe that shit. I never even knew his name was on the back and I havent heard that dudes name in years then I see it twice in the same day.
Your life must be rigged. RIGHT IT HAS TO BE:)
He in fact, has a writting in every catagory in the Library of Congress. Also invented the communications satelite.Quote:

I read a quote a long time ago: "If you don't read you are condemned to three score and ten; if you read you may live millenia." Author not remembered.Quote:
I hate reading.
Also: "Leaders are readers, but not all readers are leaders..." Author unknown. Is it a coin flip? :P
At minimum, you may be surprised how your game improves by reading Brunson, Cloutier, Sklanskey, Miller, Malmuth, etc.
I will always be greatfull that Patton read Rommel.
Asimov is OK, Stephenson is great. Also Bruce Sterling, and even William Gibson's stuff (especially older stuff).
My fav is Phillip K. Dick, tho.
