Was there any way I could've folded this river?

As soon at that board paired on the river I was on the verge of tears. But do you think it would've been possible to make a great fold there? Or was it right to call (obviously not this time, but in general)?

Bet bigger on the turn now that you've determined that he likes his hand. As for the laydown, I don't know. Once the board pairs, there are a whole lot of hands he is likely to have that beat you, and the raise tells you that he has one of them.

I'm curious....what was your reasoning for the small bet on the turn? You had the nuts, you've got to make him pay to draw out on you. The worst hand for you that he could have had after the turn was another AK. Then it'd be split pot. No way can you give someone with 2 pair those kind of odds. Same answer as in your other hand...gotta get more aggressive! :)

Yeah I agree, been playing this game since January, yet I'm still so darn timid!

Pretty much what everyone else has said...1/4 pot sized bet on the turn is far too small. But I guess I am more interested in your reasoning behind the river call. It looks like you were hitting the brakes because the paired board scared you....you fie off a very small bet for that pot....then he says I have the full house, and to prove it I am going to bet about twice the pot...I guess you decided to not to believe him??
I suppose what I'm saying is I don't understand the reasonong behind betting such a small amount - but calling such a large amount. Not trying to be too hard on you Dwarfy....and I'm certainly not saying it is an automatic laydown...but it is one I believe you can get away from if you slow down and reflect on how the hand played out before hitting the call button.
