Was I obviously beat? I see that there are a lot of hands that beat me. A six, a backdoor straight, AQ, and the list goes on.

Should I fold that river bet? Do I bet more than the pot on the flop?

That being said, your river betting was fine. It was your preflop play that worries me a bit. You're in early to middle position and QK doesn't stand up that well in NL. I'd limp with this and see the flop. It will bite you in the ass less often that way. Otherwise, folding it in early position isn't a bad call either.

By raising, assumedly, you will kick out all other hands except those that totally own you: AK, AQ, AA, KK, QQ...

Once you saw the board, your face should have lit up. :) I like your flop bet since you were the preflop raiser; it made it look as though perhaps you were trying to buy the board with AK or something. However, with teh smooth call, I would have slowed down a bit on the turn. Bet a little bit smalelr and see if he raises you, 'cause he could very well be owning you with any of hte hands stated above.

I agree about limping KQo. For that to merit a raise from me, it needs to be suited.

He didn't have it, but his play certainly shows the proclivity to make an equally bizarre play: the straight showing. I'd have to think long and hard calling an all in with top pair + a board pair when the straight card showed up. Despite the unlikelihood, giving opponent's too much credit for logical play and calling bets like that has turned into a big leak for me, so I'm working on not doing it.

Make a note about this guy though, both for the Q9 preflop call and the flop call with a bad kicker.

Definately note this guy. Slow playing two pair on the turn with a paired board. Next time knock him in the dirt and take his lunch money.

I found this funny.

I found this a good rule of thumb, by the river TPGK is usually no good with an all in bet in front of you. Pick a better spot to go in, there are so many hands that beat you here. Wait for a better hand (nuts near nuts) and learn to divorce TPTK with a big bet in front of you.

Agreed. Maybe one time in ten it'll be a bluff, but the other 9 times you're beat and flushing money down the crapper.
