Good play. He probably had a flush draw that you scared him off with your good sized bet.

I totally missed that that guy was in the hand and went all-in. I was focusing in the guy you folded. Either way, you played it fine. You were ahead when you made the call. He got sh*t lucky on the river.

You played it fine, it's just a bad beat. Move on.

Well when he raised all in.. I figured he either had a pocket pairs... I thought atleast Q's but J's make sense... Or maybe a short stacker that hit top pair. I was upset for a min. But when I reviewed it I felt that I had played it correctly.

Yea I think it was a good play. Although I am quite worried about crazyem holding pocket 2s here, it doesnt matter because you had good pot odds to call it in the event he was playing an over pair or just TPTK or something.

He got lucky.

And he should have raised preflop.

You will burn people like him in the long run, especially if he lets everyone limp in.

Anyone know the percentage for 2pr hitting from anyones cards at the table?

I think its a pretty good percentage, but many people fold preflop so the percentage is diminished.

As others said, good play.

I like the bet on the flop, strong yet callable, and you had to call the all in as you were comitted.

The rest was history.

If the flop raise re-opened the action (more than half of the bet, I think it does?) then you should have pushed. You don't need him hanging around cheap on a draw heavy board.

Why can't u people move all in!?!?!! On the flop after the guy raises AI all my chips are in center.

Debatable. I used to think so too. Then I got a free lesson from some players on here that have netted over $10k this year. Started limping it and guess what: it went from a slight money loser to money winner for me.

You raise with JJ and you're either going to get lucky and take it down on the flop, or the people who called you with overs are going to hit and you just threw your raise away. Yes, it's good to thin the field. But I've switched camps and am now in the "I'd rather lose smaller pots while still having the potential to win bigger pots" camp.

You definately have a point with not raising with jacks preflop, but the thing that makes my decision more simple is that i can usually put people on cards if I raise.

Ex: If I raise preflop, and 2 overs come huge bets, I can safely fold and my only loss is the raise. 4-5BB or so.

If I dont raise, there are many limpers and say the flop comes 568. What would you do. I can see the potential to take down a big pot with someone holding the likes of ace 8, but there is a great potential for straights/draws, flushes/draws and 2pair off the flop. Therefore, even if I have an overpair, I have found that I will lose sometimes for a great deal of money.

It seems raising keeps my variance down while not raising makes me have huge swings in variance.

However, probably the best solution is mixing things up with a bit of both, to keep people guessing. If you only raise with premium pocket pairs or group 1-3 hands then people will put you on those cards.
