AQo - Could I have played it any worse?

Interesting hand.. How would you have played it? Remember, this is 5-handed.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, 1$ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Hero ($98)
SB ($20.59)

UTG ($47.88)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q:heart:, A:diamond:. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG raises to $2, MP calls $2, Hero raises to $5, 2 folds, UTG calls $3, MP calls $3.

Flop: ($16.50) 3:heart:, K:spade:, 8:diamond: (3 players)
UTG checks (took a while to make up his mind), MP checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($16.50) Q:spade: (3 players)
UTG bets $3, MP calls $3, Hero raises to $8, UTG calls $5, MP calls $5.

River: ($40.50) 3:club: (3 players)
UTG bets $5, MP folds, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $45.50

I don't think the 3 helped him (what would he raise with UTG that it would?). I could see him having a K though...Given the passive play, I might call the river just to find out. Unless you've seen him slow play TP previously.

I probably would've put the flop hesitation down to a sluggish connection or something like that, and I would have set him all in on the river. This whole hand seems a bit techy, I don't figure him to be on AK as he would've bet the flop (unless he was a fish). He either has a weak king and was being silly on the flop, or he has a set of 8s.

Still, I would've raised the river (all in), as I favour him to be on a weakish hand here (another one of my gut feelings).

He either has KJ/KT (I think he would fold this if it were a decision for all his chips) or 88 in my opinion.

But maybe he would call an all in with KJ/KT, this really is a trouble hand, I'm confused.

So overall, KJ/KT or 88 in my opinion. Make sure you post the results, see if I were right.

I think you have to bet out hard on the flop and then throw the hammer down on the turn. This disguises your queen very well and his weak king would have more than likely folded there. If he was holding the 88 you'd be checked raised on the river and you could have tossed it without guilt.

Yeah, the only "result" was that I folded and lost a lot of money. He didn't show.

I put him on a King. I couldn't see him calling my turn raise AND coming out betting on the river with anything less than that. I was thinking he wanted to check/raise the flop or something.. But we'll never know. I wish I would have called the river though with the pot being that big.
