help please!

i need some help plugging leaks in my game...

i began playing NL on PP a couple of months ago and had a run of luck and made about $150, then lost most of it with second best hands. i took some time out, did some thinking, came back to play and managed to control my losses by raising for info on hands, and refraining from going all in unless i was pretty sure i had the best hand.

however it seems to me that now instead of losing my stack on single hands, i seem to bleed money away slowly when the cards run cold, and the money gets replaced when i draw some lucky hands (i've been getting better at springing traps etc...) so when i get dealt aces or kings normally i can double up. so this means that i'm hovering on the border of breaking even / making money.. i've been playing for around 3 months usually hovering around $50 to $150 up (i haven't ever been down yet). i would like to start cracking this $150 barrier and its frustrating because i can't.. i think i'm a fairly good player but there must be something i'm doing wrong..

I cant see that you are doing anything wrong, but maybe you shouldnt be to rigid in the starting hands you play, try limping in with a few suited connecters or some wierd hands if the table lets you, at least that way you get to see a few more flops and have the chance of hitting something. Obviously this could be called "bad play" by a lot of whiney people, who always seem to have lost to a bad hand like this, but if you want to take a chance and see a cheap flop why not? Any two cards can win.

I play on Ladbrokes over here in the uk and i see loads of players hanging on to top two pair when the board has a small pair on there because they think that people will only play premium hands, when they get busted they cant believe that people do play all sorts of hands and call it bad play. :cry:

yeah i've found that too just from observing some players on PP. they read stuff on the internet so there are lot of very formulaic players out there.

its interesting because i'm actually the kind of player who does like to mix it up and play weird hands, i was wondering whether this was a leak or not. i think i'm on the loose end of players, probably have an average flop % of 35 mebbe.. ranging between 20 and even 50 sometimes

If your bankroll is 50-150 dollars, you are severly underbankrolled from any stakes on party poker.

I think he was talking about profits? I could be wrong.

$100 to $150 was profits.. i have a br of around 300 bucks

yeah i've had a bad run lately though, i've probably dropped to about $50 profit now.. particularly painful was that bad beat that i posted in the bad beat section :S
