Playing the nut flush on the turn.

I was hoping to smooth call the turn, and beat weak on the river hoping he would come over the top of me with a straight. How would you play this?

River bet was horrible.

Consider raising the flop to disguise your flush. Bet half the pot on the river. Lots of people are calling anyways to try and 'put down the bluffer'

Don't keep hoping for others to bet for you when you have the best hand, ESPECIALLY when you are first to act. As rilla said move some money around.

Check-calling the flop was a mistake. Any decent player will suspect you have a flush draw with suited overcards when you check-call in that situation. Just pretend to have an overpair and make a standard bet on the flop and try to win the pot immediately. On the turn after a diamond falls is when you should check-call, followed by a medium-sized value bet on the river.

AKs is a much better hand than 0.30 preflop (even from early POS)

Remember that for many of the fish out there the most natural button to press regardless of situation is CALL!

I agree, but I was sitting in SB and everybody had folded except the button and I wanted a caller. So my 30 cent preflop raise got BB to fold and button to call, so isn't the isolatian what I am looking for with a preflop raise?

Essentially, you raised him by .20. He'd probably have called .40, especially if that was around the neighborhood of your standard raise.

More aggression throughout the hand would have won you more money.

Isolation with AK is fine but I would rather take a pot down now with AKs than guess what he's drawing to or already hit post flop. With a substandard raise you have virtually no info on your opp and you look weak. Look as strong as possible with AK to throw him out of the pot preflop.

Bet the flop, at some point in the hand I really want to push and let him call my obvious "bluff."
