Laying down AK

I could not, anywhere in this hand, muster up the strength to fold.

Should I have reraised the flop?

HOW do people fold stuff like this? You sit around and sit around and sit around with shitty cards and you get AK and you hit your A. Argggghhhhhhhhh

When the J hit on the river and he went all in I knew he had AJ, but I couldn't lay it down.

A friend of mine recently folded AK and surprised the hell out of all of us. It was a live game, a mix of experienced players and noobs. My friend raised pre-flop with AK, and one of the noobs called with KT.

Flop came out KTx rainbow. My friend checked, expecting to check-raise the new guy and scare him out. Well, new guy came in with a bet of 1000 - a monster bet since our chip stack for the game was 4000 to start. My friend thought for a minute and folded his cards face-up, saying "I think he hit two pair or something."

GREAT fold. Also a HARD fold. It takes a hell of a player to do that. Listening to your gut is difficult, and it's often the difference between making money and losing it.

What's with the stop and go?

If you're beat on that flop, the turn will only hurt you. There will be no turn card that finally scares you into fold. Some will push you into losing all of your stack. (another K or A)

Reraise the flop for 4 more. If he pushes, you've gotta make a judgement call based on the opponent, leaning towards a fold if you give him any respect.

If he just calls, I'd probably end up losing my stack by forcing the issue on the turn.
