What is the pair? What is the preflop action? Whats the rest of the board? How did the betting on flop and turn go? What's your read on your opponent? What's his read on you?
if i have an ace high flush and the board paired on the river there shouldnt be enough money left in our stacks to make that big of a difference. That being said, if the all in is less than 1/2 the pot i'll call it, if its more than 1/2 the pot i lay it down fairly easily. I would call an all in on a paired board with a straight no possible flush on board, much easier than i call an all in with a flush. The flush is what scares all the fish if they stand up to it they can beat it 9/10 times.
couldn't agree more about the flush vs. straight thing. I will actually call bets with moderately bad pot odds with a straight draw, because i know if i connect the other guy will have no clue and i can take him to the cleaners. flush i only draw to with great odds because i know once i make it only rarely will i get much more unless someone's drawing to a lower flush.
