I would consider 3-6 NL and 5-10 limit high stakes, others may disagree though.

does anyone on FTR besides michael play anything above 2/4 NL? Iv seen Rada do 3/6 once, but hes Rada.
You dont really need to have experience playing the games in order to moderate right? As long as you can moderatipwn the bad threads anyone can do it ...
Pretty sure Aces plays 5/10 on party. And pwns.
I'd like to know as well. Whatever the general concensus is, I'll add the minimum $ amount for "high stakes" in the forum description line.Quote:

AH in his location Aces states his playing of 1000NL PP.
Does strip poker count as well?
I've checked out pokerroom's new 5/10, 10/20 and 25/50. 25/50 scared the living shit out of me, some people sitting with deeeeeep stacks ($25k+ at a $5k buyin) Not yet had the balls or anything approaching an absolute bare minimum roll to sit at 50/100. (and probably shouldn't have sat at 25/50 for that matter, but curiosity made the cat just over $2k in 4 hours).
Just to clarify, meant NL
I wouldn't call 5/10 limit high stakes. That should at least start about 10/20.
were talking NL
i say 600NL. if you want to use the 20 buyin's rule you need to start with over a 10k bankroll. That seems like a good bar to me

I've edited the poll here to reflect this (though, I've left "PL" in the poll).
Do you guys consider 50/100 limit to be high stakes I was just kind of wondering if this was NL high stakes or just high stakes period?
Edit: ignore my question i'm an idiot...
You skipped my post above yours.
I'm going to start moving threads over that show hand histories of NL PL stakes 2/4 and greater.

Oh, I thought this forum was going to be for high stakes tournaments as well.
Anyway, I'd say its pretty close between $1k and $600. I don't really think $400 max buyin in a ring game is "high stakes", personally.
Yeah, I actually feel the need to object to the $400 buyin (2/4 NL) games being included in the high stakes forum. From the hand histories I'm seeing here, what I was worried of seems to be true.
The level of play in the 2/4 histories much more closely seems to resemble the play of .05/1, 1/2, and the other low stakes games covered in the Holdem Strategy forum than of the play in the 5/10 and 10/20 games. A lot of minraising and a lot of apparant complete fishes on the other end of many of the hands posted here (such as in the Ensign Lee's better hand thread).
The level of play in 2/4 / $400 buyin just doesn't seem to be relevent to this section at all.
No offense taken. That's partially why I was posting some of my hand histories and such. There aren't very many fish up here, but they do swim up here sometimes. I'll stop posting here if y'all want me to.
Nah, you can post here, as well as everyone else. Just try make sure that hands posted in this section relate more to the strategic side, instead of the "look at what a fish this guy is" side. There were only 2 of your threads that I didn't think fit, and I moved those back.
Probably the biggest difference in high stakes play is that you have to beat good players instead of beating fish. So the posts here should reflect that difference.
I think 3/6 NL and up is preferable, but if some 2/4 hands fit in here, then its fine to post them here too.
michael, as you and ilikeaces had requested, you are now the lead moderator and I've changed the description to now include tourneys for this High Stakes forum.
Please put together a READ BEFORE POSTING Announcement topic as you see fit when you have a moment. Mainly, I want people to know that this forum is for both ring and tourney histories and tactics unique to high stakes, and what constitutes "high stakes."
