next time you get wine drunk, please mention courtiebee because she's awesome.
Ive never listened to slipknot before, and I was surprised that I actually liked the tracks you posted. Hi5
And if you're in the mood for some harder stuff, Spit It Out or Eyeless are great
OMG bigred, really? I mean, Slipknot, OK, but SNUFF has to be the worst fucking song I've ever heard in my entire life. It's all like, "oh, we're a really hardcore band, but we like to cry too".
And we're faggots who rhyme "care" with "there" like we think we're geniuses. Just the lyrics "Save your breath I will not care / I can't destroy what isn't really there" LMFAO these guys are gay. He has to put the word "destroy" in there just to make it sound like he's not a pussy. Fuck you slipknot. They haven't been good since like 2000.
On a sidenote, I'm a huge pumpkins fan too bigred so don't hate on me for thinking Snuff is gay.
ITP Billy Corgan with a guitar schools a group of 9 mask-wearing idiots on how to write / perform a dark, moody song without sounding like a douchebag:
YouTube - Ugly - The Smashing Pumpkins
YouTube - Slipknot Snuff with lyrics
Edit: Done hijacking thread, sry bigred
whatevs
btw, is your name regarding the clown from IT or the punk band
the clown is scary as fuck. i have a special hatred for the band. I got into them for like 2 months and realized that every song they've ever made is exactly the same. They're the nickelback of punk rock. Thoughts?
also, the smashing pimpkin's return a few years ago might have been one of the most disappointing things of this decade
lol... Well, I was never a real big fan of the band. Sure, bro hymn was great. But they just don't have much range at all. And yeah I feel like that description applies to the vast majority of 90s-ish punk bands, very few exceptions, which is kind of sad given how popular it was imo
As for the pumpkin's comeback, man. I thought that after 7-8 years of mostly doing nothing, Billy would have all kinds of brilliant material to unleash on us. Unfortunately, I'd rank the disappointment I had from Zeitgeist right up there with that which I left my first girlfriend with after we did it for the first time. It's just 90s alternative rock rehashed, and not in a particularly good / interesting manner.
But I mean, think about it. In the 90s, Corgan was in his 20s, and was filled with early life angst left over from his teenage years and shit. His music back then was just so dark and angry and full of self-pity, which is what made it so fucking awesome. Reading over lyrics from practically any song in Mellon Collie takes you directly to nightmare-land.
By the time zeitgeist came out he was in his late 30s, in a different stage of life and was singing about shit like how soliders should stop fighting (obv poke at the Iraq war, way to miss the boat Billy) or... well I don't know what else, I didn't get that much into after realizing how vanilla the album was... but def not nearly as profound as his earlier work
so maybe his sucking in Zeitgeist is just a function of being older and more mellowed out. You can't go thru life being the way Billy Corgan was in the mid 90s without putting a bullet in the back of your head at some point. So his music had to suffer, otherwise he would have gone the way of Kurt Cobain...
