COD: Modern Warfare 2

I run around with a stinger on everything. Not only do you get lots of xp for it (200-400) it really pisses the other team off which is always enjoyable.

As for stopping power, I stopped using that once I completed the challenges and am now solely using cold blooded. The one exception is for my sniper rifles (which I havent even been using because ive played non stop demolition).

New favorite gun since I stopped using stopping power is the ACR. I used to looove the m16 but I found you really need sp on it because of the burst. The ACR doesnt really need it and has great iron sights. Also Ive found my performance hasnt really been affected greatly from not having it. I figure Ill get more experience from completing other challenges than from the few kills I miss from not having it.

I never noticed it before but if I don't shoot down air support or I'm not playing with friends, nobody shoots down air support.

How long has this game been out? Facepalm.

My tier list for assault rifles, which are ordered by tier but NOT ordered within the tier (since different situations call for different perk setups and play styles):

1. Top tier
FAMAS - Tighter recoil pattern and longer range than M16, both have fastest TTK of any assault rifle
TAR-21 - absolutely awesome gun, the more I play the more I appreciate it. Bob was right.
ACR - laser, best rifle without stopping power due to ease of hitting subsequent shots

2. Middle tier
M4 - very effective, perhaps too effective, but still outclassed by the ACR
SCAR - Stupid 20 round magazine screws up an otherwise near-perfect gun
M16 - mostly outclassed by the FAMAS. M16 has a faster reload and a much better heartbeat sensor, though
AK47 - sways when any attachment is used. recoil is a problem (worse than TAR). it's great with a tube though-- for some reason you can switch back and forth about twice as fast between the gun and tube compared to other rifles.

3. Bottom tier
FAiL - fail fail fail fail. It's a gun that takes skill, yes, but even used well this gun still sucks.
F2000 - It's basically an SMG without the benefits (movement, ADS walk, hipfire, faster ADS etc).

Tac Knife is just absolutely amazing. I'm really glad I tolerated the 3 hours of frustration and ripping hairs to unlock this.

you get cool emblems and more custom class slots, plus it keeps the game refreshing and new i guess. if you think about it, it's kind of silly, but sacrificing all the guns really isn't a big deal.

you start new prestiges with, among other things, M4/FAMAS, UMP, RPD, intervention/barrett, sleight of hand, stopping power, steady aim, stun/semtex, and you unlock most of the other very good stuff fairly early (scavenger for example takes hardly any time at all to unlock). some of the pro perks can be somewhat of a pain to unlock though (cold-blooded pro and lightweight pro).

plus, even if you just love the ACR (which i'm really not a big fan of but it's a sick gun for sure), it's probably better to be forced to use some other guns anyway just for the experience, since all you have to do with the ACR is point and hold, never having to burst or worry about recoil. the M4 is similar enough if you really have to use the same type of gun.

i do miss the stinger (because i'm normally the guy that has to shoot stuff down) and ninja pro when i prestige though.

AUG + grip
- secondary, preferably one of the semi-auto shotties -

- equipment // special equipment -

sleight of hand pro
stopping power
- 3rd perk -
- newbstreak -


Seriously, it's like an ACR with double damage (40-40 instead of 30-20) at distance and faster ADS (assuming you're not using SoH pro with the ACR). The AUG's irons are also very clean, probably better than all the assault rifles besides the SCAR's.

there are drawbacks compared to an assault rifle-- movement speed penalty (87.5% instead of 95%), bad hipfire, and effectively a loss of a perk and a powerful attachment (using grip + sleight of hand instead of scavenger and a skill cannon, for example).

still, yesterday i was putting up some of my better games using the AUG, so give it a try. avoid CQC.

it's sort of a hybrid stealth/sniper/shottie/claymore class that i want to set up.. something like:

final stand

snipe when practical, claymore spam, blow people up with shotgun, etc.

Isn't stopping power pretty necessary when sniping? Please excuse my lack of sniping knowledge if I'm way off.

With the silencer and the m21 it is otherwise every kill is going to take two shots. Sniping is definitely worth learning. Its tons of fun if you're good at it. I prefer a handgun for my secondary for how fast you can change guns.

boog it depends on your perk/silencer setup. sniper rifles do 70 base damage which is reduced to 50 when silenced. there are multipliers on the body which differ between the rifles, the practical effect goes something like this:

most people use intervention/barrett with stopping power and without a silencer. this gives you a one hit kill to anywhere but the limbs and is probably the best pure sniping setup.

the wa2000 is best used with a silencer and stopping power (or neither, since they cancel each other out perfectly), and it's a one hit kill to the upper chest/head.

the m21 will be a 2 hit kill anywhere with a silencer and without stopping power, but that is what the gun is good with. i really used that one more as a shotgunning and claymore/flash spamming class but i'd pull out the sniper when i had a chance. that said, without sleight of hand and needing 2 hits to kill it wasn't the best, but it worked.

another idea along the same lines of that class might be something like wa2000 + thermal and carry around a silenced secondary, maybe pp2000 + silencer.

yeah if you're going to switch back and forth a lot that is definitely a good idea. i think my biggest problem when sniping is that i try to pick too many high-visibility areas, and instead i should try to find spots with low visibility but that cover well-traveled areas.

also, the raffica is just ridiculous (handgun draw speed, 1 burst kill) for using as a secondary with normal sniping setup (intervention, stopping power, etc)

I started playing Hardcore TDM and it's a lot of fun!

Once again, I proved to myself last night that I'm very bad at this game when drunk. At least I was playing Search & Destroy so I didn't destroy my KDR by going 2-30 like I would've in any other mode...

Hardcore Search & Destroy is fun as shit.

I've been using the silencer on the SCAR a lot recently and using a silenced weapon makes such a huge difference. You can pick off a group of enemies without letting them know where you are after killing one of them. I like it so much that I finally unlocked the ACR again and I can't even use the thing now b/c the iron sights suck so much and I don't want to play with Bling instead of Scavenger.

it never hurts if the other team is hopelessly bad, keeps running into your claymores, and never thinks to shoot down your chopper gunner either

I never set nuke as a kill streak reward but pretty much any setup with scavenger/OMA - claymore as a base should work.

you might take ump silenced with cold blooded or AR with a skill cannon and danger close or whatever and it should play out similarly enough.

also, I'm not saying they are better, but those last 2 setups also have distinct advantages for getting a nuke (harder to find someone running cold blooded, extra kill streak damage with danger close pro).

You guys should try out the fal. Does 50-35 damage (50-40 damage with the holo sight) making it a two shot kill at close-med range. It takes a little bit to get used to and is by no means as easy to use as the acr but if you have good accuracy you can own with it.

I've actually just started soley knifing on Sub Base, Favela, Skid Row, and Scrapyard...it tilts the dog shit out of the other team and pretty effectively prevents camping plus it sets a precedence when I haul ass down the hill and stab a bitch for first blood on Underpass, the snipiest of the sniper maps

I play pretty much only demolition now and i use sentry guns and emergency air drops. My new idea is to start throw the marker next to the bomb to try and get a kill with it. Not only that but itd get in the way of the bomb and maybe have the start taking the care package instead of planting the bomb. Meh its an idea, funny at least.

It confuses the shit out of them with an ead with 4 care packages all around the bomb.

Another good spot is on favela after you get b point and control of a on offense. Take the roof and as they come running up from their spawn throw it down there.

I just acquired MW2 on the PS3 as well as 360 no so i can play with all of FTR

I can't stand those who use that knife perk. If you don't pull the shotty and fire your dead. Even worse if they're using the Marker

wtf I have no problem with people making a normal knifing class. I was talking specifically about the cp glitch

my kdr is absolutely freefalling since I started trying the riot shield throwing knife. I mean its funny as hell but damn =/

Just wanted to say that Infinity Ward has stated that they are fixing the care package sprint in the next patch so any whining I was doing was about something that they did not intend to be in the game. I'm guessing you play TDM only and have never had the misfortune of playing CTF vs someone who is care package glitching. It's completely game breaking.

Agreed, even marathon/lightweight/commando without the care package is arguably overpowered in certain situations when taking lag into consideration.

I have no problem using overpowered weapons and taking advantage of poor balancing, but care package glitching crossed the line from poor balancing to blatant exploit, IMO.

Looks like the Care Package "Running" glitch is fixed, but there is still a Care package glitch where some people have figured out how to get infinite packages. Just play the fucking game people.

Yes. But not too frequently in my experience. I stick to SnD mostly now, the players are pretty "fair" there mostly

yea the care package glitch is annoying. its so frequent because its so easy to do...i looked it up after tilting from multiple package spammers. i've typically only used it when its obvious that someone on the other team is abusing the glitch. but now it seems like at least one person in every game is using the glitch. its tolerable until the emergency air drops start bringing 4 at a time, every time. the best option at this point is almost always to leave the game. the next best option is the counter package spam. either way, this glitch undoubtedly disrupts the gameplay and the quality of the overall experience. so i don't like it. but i can't not play the game. i'm hoping this will all be patched up soon, but until then i think its beneficial to know how to do the glitch myself. it definitely beats being super bitter about it.

I assume that glitch is only for ps3?

^^That's what I was asking. Every game is infested with these guys on Xbox. TDM and Domination especially. FFA and S&D are the only playable games that I play at the current time.

Domination is easy on everything except Wasteland since 2 or 3 people on their team are focused on CP's and you can just run around and capture flags with a marthon/cold blooded class and only worry about 1 or 2 people that will actually shoot at you, and then we wear them out for cheating and losing like the douche nozzles they are.

I heard a patch is coming out tommorow for this. I would personally rather see them just make it so care packages only have counter UAV's and ammo in them.
