i might even call this if i didnt hit two pair because the flush draw missed and he bet so big, with the two pair its an easy call

Easy call. His bet doesn't line up with how weak he percieves your hand. You have the best hand over 50% of the time IMO, which is way more often than you need to call here.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Sklansky says Big bet = big hand?

Big bet = big hand trying to look like bluff?

I'm not folding a good hand on a wacky board against an unknown villain who is taking a broken nonsense line.

You're getting 2:1. Is a call +EV against this opponent on this board with the lines presented? That's really your only concern. I think you're ahead often enough to make this call. In fact, I almost like a value raise and fold to a push. The only reasonable hands ahead of you are poorly played sets, or a back door make. You're actually ahead of some hands that will call a small raise.

    Default perma-call

I call this river without hesitation.

You checked through the turn and showed weakness and induced a bluff/bet.

He must put you on air, and yet he's betting almost the pot at you? You're for sure ahead.

If he has AJ, or flush.. then nice hand.

    Default no two pair..

Along the same lines, what should hero do if the river brings a non four, non spade?

Our turn check would have stilled induced a bluff..

Villain leads out for $100 (could still be bluffing a missed flush draw) and we just have top pair 4 kicker? Is a call still +EV or is this entirely based on reads?

If he puts me on air, why would he make a bet that he knows I can't call with nothing.

Better the check and let me try to bluff.
