Default 5/10 pounds, against loose player

-Both of these hands are against the same villain
-I've never seen him before, but he's been running around 55/26 over the last 50 or so hands. Small sample so no crazy reads
-He's been playing a lot of hands, 3-betting pre, but not getting too out of line post flop and been playing more or less passively with pot control

This hand happened before the hand in question:
-villain is BB in this hand, and he overcalls the flop with marginal top pair and value bets river

    Cryptologic
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$10
    5 players
    Converter

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with
UTG raises to $40, Hero calls, 2 folds, BB calls.

    Flop: ($125, 3 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $90, Hero calls, BB calls.

    Turn: ($395, 3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks.

    River: ($395, 3 players)
BB bets $140, UTG folds, Hero calls.

    Results:
    Final pot: $675
    BB shows:

    Hand in question:
-thoughts on all streets are welcome
-should I be betting this turn? After the flop check/call, I thought AJ or AQ were definitely possible, in addition to potentially AK, and QQ+

    Flop: ($290, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $230, SB calls.

    Turn: ($750, 2 players)
    SB checks, Hero checks.

    River: ($750, 2 players)
    SB bets $240, Hero raises all-in $888, SB <-- $648 to call

    Pretty interesting hand,

his postflop playing style doesnt give very much information about his hand, we just know he has a nice one... but thats quite easy on that board.

So i think its basically up to the question what hand could he have made a good reraise with, out of the SB?

IF i had never seen him reraise, and never seen him bluffing big id tend to give him credit to reraise with a premium hand, considering AQ as the worst hand he might have reraised here.
Id say AQ is the only hand he might lay down there, probably hes gonna call you with a set. I could see him very well call there and show KK.

IF i had seen him reraise frequently with mediocre hands i think you have slightly better chances he lays it down there, altough he might easily have reraised you with a Kx hand.

    Hey deeprhode,

Thanks for the reply and welcome to FTR!

My reads in this hand weren't that great in this hand, as I didn't have that many hands on him (<100). I guess the question is what hands would 3-bet PF and c/c this flop instead of leading? I'd imagine QQ/JJ might just lead on the flop. I can see AQ/AJ deciding to c/c this flop, as well as KK.

On this river, I put villain on AJ/AQ... I just don't know if its very smart tryin to get villain to fold two pair on this board.

Sauce, what would you do differently in hand 1? I thought about raising the flop, but didn't expect an overcall after I called.

I'd fold river in first hand, but you could call to show you are willing to call down with weak hands which could turn out to pay dividends later on. Don't like this 88 play, losing to so much and he is a bit of a donk and could call you down with alot weaker hands than should be needed to call this river move.
Should wait for a better spot to get your money in with this guy.

You said this player was 3betting PF loose but being quite passive at postflop play - juggling. Thats why i can very well imagine him checking JJ QQ KK on that flop, trying to involve you or induce you to bluff.

So thats why i basically wouldnt feel well getting my whole stack in there. Reraise out of the SB with TT JJ QQ KK AA AK AQ AJ? that makes it 6 hands he wont lay down and 2 he probably might, supposed a RR out of SB with AJ is in his range
