6max variance

I understand that I'll suffer from much bigger swings from playing 6max. What are the typical swings that you guys experience. I started playing 100NL 6max last week. I started out +15 buyins. Then I lost 7 today. Is this at all normal?

It also depends on the way you play. You can purposefully keep the game higher or lower variance. That's some hefty variance you're talking about there.. more than I experience it anyway.

+15 in how long of a time? Sounds like you're playing very aggressive, high variance games if that's all in a short time.

up 15 and down 7 in 5k hands

losing 7 buyins in a day isnt a normal occurence for me.

I would say thats a bit much to lose at 100NL. It is still possibly standard though. Just watch your game for the next few days though.

I usually win / lose 2-4 buyins in a 1500 hand session 6 tabling.

I'm trying to tone it down a little bit. I think I initially overadjusted from FR and some early positive variance made me think what I was doing was correct.

If you are a huge LAGG then gaining or winning 7 buyins isnt unheard of in a day. Check out some of the guys like SheCantSayNo or Noreaster in the 10/20 games, with that sort of aggression huge swings are part of the game. If you play a TAGGier style then a 7 buyin drop in a day is eithe horrible variance or some leaks getting exploited

I have lost 8 buyins in a day, also gone up 8 buyins... but those are extreme examples.
Most sessions are swings of 4 buyins max

I just started playing 5max (poker room) . In about 5 hours 3 tabling over 2 days

+3.4 buyins then - 2.1 buy ins then +3.8 buy ins

I am a Tight semi Aggressive in full ring. This 5 max stuff makes you have thick skin.

Glad Im not the only one who noticed this. The checkraises, min raises, bets etc. just every street get ridiculous. I played one session and mdae like 5 buyins, and then the next dropped like 4. The swings there are ridiculous with that aggression, but it is also very profitable.

Yeah, the players are terrible, but you really need a strong heart... thank God for omega-3 fatty acids lol
