    Default A8's re-raised pot

Hello all, new to this forum. Not sure if I’m posting this correctly, but I couldn't figure out how to make the hand converter work for live hand histories... Anyways, on with the hand:

    5/10 NLHE Live Club game

    Hero ~1500
    Villain ~500
    Hand: A8 diamonds

I've been at the table for about 45 min, and villain and I have yet to clash. He is definitely the tight/aggressive type though. Other than that, I have no clue how he plays.

7 man game, everyone folds to villain who opens for 35.00 on the cutoff, Hero re-raises to 85.00, blinds fold and villain calls.

    Flop comes: K98 (1 diamond) POT: ~ 180.00

Villain checks, Hero bets 150.00... Villain then pushes all-in for ~415.00

    Hero: ???

Gotta fold here without a read that this guy's a spewtard. And you don't have to c-bet so much. $100-120 is plenty.

So fold is usally the correct play this shallow?

I called and he flipped over KQ and i lost... But when i rewound the hand, i was almost getting 3-1 for the call...

Was it a horrid call you think?

    Default nothing much

PReflop, i actually thought i might have the best hand, or he might fold...

On the flop, it was just a standard c-bet. thats basically it.

I think you played the hand very well. Villain simply got lucky, because you had the better hand to start with and lost. But that's just poker...

ur mistake wasnt ur flop call- it rly doesnt matter if u call flop or not

preflop, and flop bet sizing were just terrible

Jadefox, what gabe and sauce are trying to say is that you totally donked away your money and that you should stay away from high stakes unless you hate money.

BTW the flop call was bad as well.

I'm new to posting here, so i should have stated this topic differently.
Thats basically the only thing im worried about the hand. What factors go into calling or folding on the flop, and what are your reasons for either way?

i dont 3 bet shorties (well not so short but in 3bet pot he is short after cbet) with hands that needs very good flop to get good while shortie needsj ust tptk to push... most likely u'll just get draw and u'll need to push or call a push.. and you have cut odds. if he is tight rather 3bet him with pairs or . .aj... i still c-bet him tho but no so hard he always have to make decision for all his money so i think it doesnt change your FE.

well calling or folding that flop K89..
u have to think about what he shove all his money in on that flop... you have to think what kind of player/person he is...if he is solid or not....in live games u have more info than that..did he just loose some big pot for example ? some ppl gamble/push more than (like me)... then u get few hands he is likely pushing with into you.... if there wasnt flushdraw so no straight+flush combo draws then he has TP good kicker thats good enough to attack ur cbet and pretty much want u to fold. or he has 89,TJ, duno anything what fits into flop and is good enough for HIM to push with.. 88/99....ak/kq/kj/k3...maybe QQ/JJ. thing is he is oop so he i expect him to push there TP,2p or set (in position he may smooth call 2p/set).

so u simply cant call there cos ur most likely behind what he has and u dont have good price to draw ur hand.

So you don't think villain is ever bluffing here? thats basically all i seem to beat.

except some advanced +EV moves, he still csan be overplaying qq/jj/tt on that flop but more likely he will have u beat with tp+

the threebet given stack sizes and in general was pretty bad. I understand your reasoning that you're probably ahead "at this point." But threebetting this hand is pretty much a bluff, because while you're ahead of his opening range, you're NOT ahead of his threebet calling range. That being said you should probably call or fold preflop.

You have to realize that I don't know one hand besides AQ/AJ that you are beating postflop before you bet, and both of those hands have three outs and will check it down so don't bet. As played i just c/f.

I don't think he's ever bluffing here because, as you point out, your odds to call are relatively good and you're likely to call with marginal hands as well as good ones. You have 3-bet pre-flop and bet the flop, it's fairly likely you have some kind of hand here. Unless you have a strong reason to believe he's bullshitting, this seems to be a very easy fold.
