AA in the SB

I'm happy with how I played this hand postflop....My question revolves around how I played it *preflop*. UTG raises and someone cold-calls behind him...Both have position on me, so do I raise more here? Less? Keep it the same and "ohh well that's poker?"

I kept the results in on purpose, because it really doesn't matter how this hand played out....just wondering what I do here preflop? Both guys are pretty tight players, the preflop raise to $5 told me he had big cards...figured I could get a push if I raised big....maybe not? Maybe raise it to $15 and then he pushes or reraises me, and doesn't give the set-hunting-turd a chance to hit?

My plan was to get all-in no matter what the flop was...but the postflop actions dictated that I fold.

Well, I wasn't worried about the initial preflop raiser...If he's got QQ, well, "here's your money dood."

The second guy scared the piss out of me. He took a long time to call the $20 raise preflop. When UTG went all-in and then the second guy pushed, I knew I was in deep dog doo-doo.

Sucks to fold with that much money in the pot and only $50 or so more to call.....but when you're beat.....you're beat.

this is as close as i have seen to playing rockets 'perfectly well played.

I think the flop fold is really close...

Fnord, is it close because of the range of hands you can put our opponents on....because of the odds we are getting if we *know* what we're up against.....or a little of both?

Could you run the numbers for me? I'm curious.

You're almost fortunate that there was a 10 and a Q on that flop, both the type of pocket pair with which you would expect someone to call that nice sized raise PF. I bet you put them on a set of 10s or Qs and not 3s right? With a flop like 973 you're more likely to double him up.

Very nice hand George. Very impressive play throughout, especially the wherewithall to recognize that the 2nd push was an indication that your AA was no g00t, even though you didn't have to make it much more to call. Thanks for posting this.

Like I said before, I did not fear QQ at all. If the dude had QQ, well, here's your money bro, nh. I bet out on the flop knowing that UTG had QQ or KK, and I was going to live or die with my aces against him. He had been min-raising the entire night from UTG, and all of the sudden he pops it to $5 preflop? He definitely had a big hand. I wish he would have pushed preflop, that would have made this turn out a lot better for me, but you never would have seen this post then....

The guy in the CO, though, he took a while to call the $20 preflop bet. This, to me, was for sure a limped pocket-pair. Who calls that re-raise with anything but a pocket-pair? Then, when the CO took a little time on the flop and then pushed his stack after UTG pushed......I said to myself, "WTF? There is absolutely no way that guy is pushing over a raise and a re-raise without having a set." I knew the CO didn't have QQ, but TT and 33 were the only hands I could put him on. The only hands. And 33 it was.

Thanks. That said, I would have punched myself in the face if they would have flipped over KK and AQ. Then I would post the hand on here and get berated for throwing away AA with this huge pot in front of me, lol.

Maybe I should have posted the results later....wonder what would have been said then?
