AJ0 oop against loose passive.

Just moved up to 100nl.
Villy is Loose/passive, havent seen much from him...except that he called a 4bet shove with AKs..and sucked out against AA.
40/4/1 type (estimated guess).

Just want some thoughts on this hand and am wondering what your line would be. Villian tanked b4 deciding what to do on river. Should i have thrown a check in here somewhere?

Your hand is pretty much the nuts until the river, where it's strong enough to bet/fold for value.

what fnord said, your turnbet is way too small, missing value from weaker jacks, 9X and all of his straight draws. Checking flop or turn versus this type of guy should be a crime, no idea what to do on river, worst card possible just showed up

my reason for betting so small on turn: I guess i got scared..and went into bet fold mode, so bet as small as possible, but still wanted value from 9x, jx, e.t.c.

which is pretty dumb...specially against a fish.

Anytime I move up in stakes I do the same thing. I bet too small on the flop, turn or river with hands like the one you just posted. I guess I get "scared" like you said.
This fear of losing too much money has impeded my progress as a poker player.
Lately, I have been forcing myself to change this about my game, and I suggest you do the same.
If this hand you played was at $50NL, then the pot would have been $12 on the turn and I highly doubt that you would have bet only $6.50.

I almost feel like the best way to combat "being scared" (which goes hand in hand with feeling as though everyone is making plays at you.. cause you think everyone notices you're scared money) is to bet BIG more, with intention of b/f'ing.

If you bet big on turn and get raised, at least it feels as though you showed strength and got raised so he's prob legit. The worst thing is betting small and getting raised and then levelling yourself into bad "he's bluffing me" call downs, cause your bet looked weak.

This is very true and is one of the first things I changed about my game after getting a membership at cardrunners.
CTS would bet like $55 into a $60 pot on the flop, then he would bet $155ish into a $170 pot on the turn.
I would have my calculator out and would say to myself "holy shit he's betting like 90% of the pot on each street!"

Betting big like this is one thing I tend to forget when I move up in stakes.

griffey's got it. definitely bet bigger on the turn. Now I think that either c/f or b/f are fine. Plz dont check call.
