Default Am I spewing chips playing hands like these?

I've noticed I lose a lot of 60-80BB pots like these...should I cut it out?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    BB ($0)
    UTG ($46.47)
    MP ($66.07)
    Hero ($46)
    SB ($35.55)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 5, 6. UTG posts a blind of $0.50. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, Hero raises to $2, SB (poster) calls $1.75, UTG (poster) calls $1.50.

    Flop: ($6) 6, T, 4 (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $4, SB folds, UTG calls $4.

    Turn: ($14) 7 (3 players)
UTG bets $5, Hero calls $5.

    River: ($24) 9 (3 players)
    UTG bets $15, Hero folds.

    Final Pot: $39

well, thats a standard hand to raise the button with, u hit mid pair and made a standard cbet, which he calls...u pick up OESD on the turn and he makes it 5 for u to win 19, which is an easy call...u miss on the river and you fold...whats wrong with this?

Should'nt this be a hand that needs some reads to continue with facing the turn bet? (If you hit, do you get his stack? If you re-raise, will he only call or re-raise again with a better hand?)

Are you showing a profit looking at SC's alone? (looking at a graph as well as totals, to investigate the swings)

I am trying to answer these questions myself, and the above is what I came up with.

nothing i guess...sucks when these sort add up to 250BB in one night.

it's weird - betting this dry of a flop vs checking behind with mid pair...lots of villains won't call on that flop without top pair at least but maybe call or bluff the turn picking up a draw or a lower pair. it also keeps the pot smaller for a real marginal but showdown-worthy hand. i guess at higher stakes checking behind would mean you should check behind with good hands as well, but too few really pay that much attention at 50nl imo.

what do you guys think of flop check behinds in this kind of spot?

Ask yourself why you bet the turn instead of checking behind. Did you gain extra fold equity with your outs? I fire a second time in a lot of spots like this, but always for the right reasons. I just feel too many people look at their hand improving (yet still weak), and think that's enough reason to bet. It's not.

Have a reason to bet or not bet a certain amount that has less to do with what you're holding.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Well, in this case Hero called the turn. Villian lead out weak, so he couldn't check behind.

But I agree with what you're saying here... so often I find myself in hands like this, and instead of taking a free card I bet because my draw had gotten that much better. Almost like I feel I'm obligated to bet and not take a free river...
