I see what you mean. You had 3:1 odds on your call, possibly 4:1 or 5:1 if the other guys in the hand call (ended up getting 4:1). I would probably call there and if I hit, flat call any bet; or if no one bet, I might throw out a modest bet and hope for one call on it.

It is a very risky area, you really don't know what you're up against. I'd say if your odds are even or better (i.e. the play is not -EV on its own merits, disregarding any implied odds whatsoever) you can call. Then you just want the cheapest possible showdown if you hit.
