    Default Bad lines? SHNL50$ (The real question: Am I a donk?)

    Hi, my first post on this site. I have been reading this site for about 4-5 months (appx the same period I have been starting out playing poker). U guys have helped me earning my first 1000 $ (TY!).

    I am now trying some short stays at SHNL 50$-tables, usually 4-tabling. Just curious about a couple of hands:

    1. First hand at table, unknown opp, how could I have extracted more money? What does opp have here?

    hand 1: your bet sizing is a little off on the turn. You bet $3 into (i think) a $7 pot. Bet $5 on the turn and it makes it easier to get AI by the river.

    hand 2: if im reading the HH right, you reraised to $14? a 4.5x reraise is a bit of overkill, and will blow alot of villains off the pot when you have a strong hand like this. 3-3.5x reraise is fine here. This is another spot where your not betting enough. On the flop, the pot is $28. you should fire out a $20ish bet here. Also, dont check behind on the turn. your only giving strait/flush draws free cards. just push on the river. Again, if im reading the HH right, you bet $14 into a $50+ pot.
    eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

    welcome to FTR. your avatar is freaky.

    Hand 1 - don't min-raise. {misread HH}

    Either put in a real raise and hope he has a hand, or just call. I would re-raise his turn bet.

    He's either a donk with QQ+, AQ+, or he has 88

    Hand 2 - I like pre-flop. It defines your hand, but denies odds.
    {I misread the HH. A raise of $8 to $11 would be good}

    I like flop because you don't want to blow out worse hands. You have to bet turn, pot is already full buy-in, some pseudo draws are coming, just put it in here. No reason to do anything besides push river

    Thank you for fast reply. I agree with your comments, the minraise in hand 1 was to make him think I got air, but I agree valuebetting and hoping he got the the goods is better.

    welcome to FTR,

    I'm a little confused on your hand history. Was that a minraise, or was it a raise OF 2, to 3? and villain calling an extra 2?

    In either case. I think I would have re-raised villain on the turn in hand 1, after he check raised. (and also lead out more)

    Hand 2: if this was just a raised pot, I wouldn't mind checking through the turn here sometimes for pot control. But given that this is a re-raised pot, I think I wanna get it all in here at some point, so definitely bet the turn.

    lol @ you changing the title

    Read the posts in the digest. There is lots of great information. You'll start to develop reasons for your bets, a sample list:
    1) value
    2) protection
    3) deception
    4) isolation

    Sometimes it's only one, sometimes multiple. As you start to figure out why you're betting you'll realize how much you should be betting.

    Griffey:
    It was a minraise to 2, and he then called.

    I'm pretty sure everyones reading the HH wrongly. It says called ".50" when he really just called .25.

    So here's my help (you played the hands pretty well):

    Hand 1: raise flop to $3, be turn closer to pot, call the raise. and put the rest in on the river.

    Hand 2: Flop i bet 16. turn i push.

    The way you played it, you can probably get more value on the river, bet at least 25.
