Default Built a big pot with a draw, rivered my ace.. now what?

    - villain is running 25/13/3.77
    - he has been tilting a bit after a few beats, and I've seen him bluff raise a few flops, but I doubt he'd bluff in this spot on the river. I have no clue what he'd play this way though

    Cryptologic
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $2/$4
    6 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $518
    UTG+1: $216.2
    CO: $344.6
    Button: $386.4
    Hero: $534
    BB: $1150.4

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, Hero calls, BB checks.

    Flop: ($12, 3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $12, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises to $36, BB calls, UTG+1 calls.

    Turn: ($120, 3 players)
Hero bets $96, BB calls, UTG+1 folds.

    River: ($312, 2 players)
Hero bets $196, BB raises all-in , Hero pukes and wonder if this is a must call/pot committed??

since there is absolutely nothing villain plays this way that you beat (i exclude an idiotic bluff since BB is almost 300BB deep and even a bluff shove is offering you nearly 10:1 odds), you can fold this.

I wouldn't have though of it at the time, but sauce's suggestion of checking the river is probably best since BB most likely holdings are two pairs/sets, since he called before knowing what UTG+1 was going to do.

I would check call the river and hope TP is enough, but it probably isn't unfortunately.

    I agree

I dont see how you can have hm beat here. I dont think he would of come this far in the hand with a hand that your beating, if definitely looks like a slow-play to me. His river raise just confirms those thoughts for me, hes not raising the river with a hand your beating.

Your real downfall was how strongly you played your hand on the flop and turn, unnecessary aggression.

Yah I agree that the flop and turn were probably too aggressive. The flop just looked like the perfect spot to squeeze, with a very strong draw.

I probably should have check called the turn, after both players called my flop check-raise.

The timing of his calls lead me to believe that he wasn't that strong, and a part of me actually thought he could just have a J on the river, and would feel committed to calling my bet when the A fell.

As it turns out, he had 23 of spades, for a rivered straight. But nonetheless, I played it too strong.
