Do HUD stats make me a bad player
So, Ive been using Poker Tracker and Ace Hud for about 4 months ago and have felt like I have had a pretty good improvement in my game. I use HUD all the time, usally 6-8 tabling either 6 MAX 10NL or 25NL. I realize that stats are not the most important thing at this level of play, but it does seem to help me in assigning players ranges, and being able to look at things such as CBET % and how often they are calling preflop ranges. I do not display a ton of stats on each player, just VPIP, PFR, CBET, Fold to flop CBET, and call preflop raise.
The reason for my post tonight is because of the hand that is posted below. Ive been sitting at the table for a few rounds and my stats had not popped up on the player to my right. As you can see I 3bet AK preflop, like I always do, and get called. My reason for raising on the flop was simply because of the preflop call, I really honestly put the player on a hand such as TT-QQ and did not believe that he would have lead out had he flopped a set, and of course my reason for calling his shove is the same.
Now heres the thing that blew my mind, after the hand, his stats pop up, and hes 8/8 over 14 hands. I said to myself after that hand that had I seen his stats I probably would have given him a little more respect postflop and possibly just called and then revalulate on the turn and river. Since previously, in situations like this I would only shove a TPTK to someone that I just saw spewing chips all over the place, and was a running a very high VPIP/PRF.
Mind you, Im not trying to be results oriented, Im just trying to help myself understand if I truly understand why stats are there for me. Everyone on this board has been more then helpfull, and I was hoping by posting this some of you guys could give me some guidance.
