Default Ease my transition to 3/6, I heard its hard

Whats up everybody. I hear the move from 2/4 to 3/6 is the hardest one so far in a poker player's career. I am here with only vague questions and hoping anyone who's been there can leave me some tips, advice, motivating stories, or naked girls to get me started.

First of all, should I even move up? I only have 54k hands of 400NL since the end of last month. The party 2/4 game is an ocean and I'm happy with the money I make now but still I've only ran at 2.5 ptbb/100. However my last 10k hands has been at 10.4 bb/100. Since I've quit my job and play all the time now, I realize how small of sample sizes these are.

What kind of bankroll should I have before jumping in? I've taken a few short shots at 600NL (about 1k hands total) but I've waited until I have $20k to take a serious shot at it.

How did you make the move?
Is it really that much harder or am I just being over dramatic?
Also, how do you store your roll when it gets to be $20-40k and above?

edit - this is all 6max

    25/50's f'in hard!
Hmm I dont know because Ive never gone above 400 NL 6-max. But I dont think its as bad as you make it out to be. It would help to have a roll of 25k+ though. Right now im still plowing thru 400 NL 6-max on WPEX and having a great time, but after 5,000 hands or so and a small bankroll increase I intend to make the same move up to 3/6 6-max. If it helps 2/4 to 3/6 in full ring was no jump at all, players skill levels stayed the same.
    BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live

If you are playing for you income, I love using the 100x buyin rule, especially if you are already beating your current stakes for a decent rate. But, I'd be concerned with your winrate, and I'd personally look at get a bigger sample of maybe 100k hands. If you are only 4 tabling you should be beating the party 400nl game for at least 4-5ptbb/100, and there are probably some holes in your game that should be filled. If you are playing for income, improving your game is like giving yourself a huge raise.

Best advice, though, is move up when you are comfortable with moving up, and not any sooner.

the diff between 3/6 and 2/4 is minimal. 3/6 to 5/10 is a much bigger jump.

Yeah I was wondering this aswell. The thoughts of having 40k lying around on Neteller scares me.

Also how serious do you guys take the threat of trojans and keyloggers etc when you have lots of $$ on the net?

Sorry for adding a question in there Smackin, I presume you might be interested in that too.

Make a fresh install, install just the software you need and from the trusted sources. Have a decent firewall, virus scanner and update frequently. Most importantly is dont install all sorts of crap\open dodgy email attachments etc.

is there any merit for skipping 200nl SH on party and going straight from 100nl to 400nl when you have the bankroll?

I am hearing that lotsa good players ran bad a 200nl before they moved to 400, and I seem to be following suit.

Running bad has nothing to do with the level you play at and if you are playing 4x the stakes you are used to and you drop a few buyins that will feel devestating no matter how big your bankroll is. I wont suggest playing 400nl with less than a 12k bankroll because people really underestimate the variance in poker.

FWIW i have been running really bad at 200nl for the last 1-2 months

Yea, I'm definitely interested in this.

BMX, your answer was somewhere along the lines of what I was expecting but I want to know more. How much of it do you keep in your bank account vs online? If I recall there are some transaction fees that would make it expensive to move money between the bank and neteller very often.

    What's a solid winrate for an 8-tabler at 2/4 and 3/6?

Why not keep a good chunk of your bankroll in your bank account?
I have about $40k bankroll and only about $16k of it is in Neteller and poker sites.

Any winrate 8-tabling 6-max at 2/4 and above is a good winrate.

Moving money from my bank account into Neteller is very difficult I believe. Bank wire is the only way to do it Ithink and that can involve heavy fees.

if by over there you mean not the states i'm not too sure about this...but i am in the states and transfer money straight from my bankaccount to netteller, and as long as you don't do the whole instacash thing i'm pretty sure there isn't a fee.

How else do you get money into Neteller?

Moving money from bank account to neteller and back again and back again and back again a gazillion times over is always free for US bank accounts if u do EFTs and not wires. They take like 2-3 business days but better than paying a fee. I dont know if they charge fees for different countries.

    It is USD.

I just checked and it looks like I can use Internet Banking for cash transfers between bank account and neteller. It must be just a recent upgrade.
