    Default Flat calling raises preflop...

is generally never a good idea? Should you only really do it with AQ and AK and 22+? Does sc's make a difference?

i don't think its a good idea - there are a ton of players, especially shorthanded, who raise A9 the same way you or I would raise AK - I think there are plenty of players you can flat call, but its also better to re-raise them (especially with AK,AQ) flat calling is okay with SC's and PP's, especially if the player can't get away from an overpair when you hit a flop hard...

mostly player dependent - I like to re-raise when I can, in position and against overplayers, but i have to smooth call sometimes and let them overplay their marg. hands also...

Mix it up. Flat calling is fine, just don't give up too easy on your hand against a loose raiser or weak player with a 7%+ PFR.

    don't you run 15% PFR?

A little less when I'm being well behaved, a little more when I'm on tilt or pushing a pre-flop loose post-flop tight player around.

Have we played the same table?

I think in certain situations it can be great.

Lets say you are playing against an aggressive player who pushes his chips around a lot post flop, and who also overvalues his hand post flop. You can pretty much anhiliate this player by flat calling, hitting TP better kicker and slowplaying his ass. By reraising preflop, you eliminate the chance to get him to bet into you with a bad hand.

Thats just too much poker for me...

I like my Gabe approach for the time being, which also seems to fit into the Fnord approach. I'm still getting a grasp on the whole 'when to cold call' preflop thing but I'm doing it more when the effective stacks are higher. My range is exclusively suited no gappers (only sometimes) and pocket pairs (usually always). AJs, ATs, and KQs, and KJs only sometimes as well.

It depends on opps preflop raising range, but usually flat calling a raise with KJs or ATs in any position is a leak.
