Default gutshot and over pair w 77 ($50nl PS)

I'd only been at the table for maybe 10 hands, so I didn't have any good reads on CO. In one hand that went to showdown, he called with 77 in the SB and checked a 33TJ5 board on all streets.

Is it bad to call here and see what he does on the turn? Should I be folding? It seems nitty to fold but I have no plan for later streets so I don't know.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Button ($32.80)
    SB ($7)
    Hero (BB) ($97.25)
    UTG ($56.90)
    MP ($29.90)
    CO ($90.15)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7, 7
2 folds, CO raises to $2, 1 fold, SB calls $1.75, Hero calls $1.50

    Flop: ($6) 3, 4, 6 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $4.25, CO raises to $8.50, 1 fold, Hero ...?

I don't like your flop lead. I see where you come from with not wanting to give free cards, but imo the lead should only be made with a marginal hand when we're sure to fold to a raise.
With our gutshot here, our hand probably has too much equity to fold to most raises. (Especially this small one, but we didn't knew that before leading)

I would check flop. If CO bets he's repping a pretty strong range but we can call. (if SB raises we fold). Depending the turn card and betsizing we c/c or c/f.

Why did you lead the flop?

I don't know! It wasn't because I didn't want to give free cards. I see how it put me in a dumb spot.

Yeah check flop but I don't see how we can fold or raise now so just call and see how the turn plays out

I don't agree. You have only 5 clean outs that you're going to feel comfortable getting the money in with, and he's not going to give you a single dime if you hit any one of them. And you're almost never seeing the river for free once you call the flop.

You guys are a bit deep so I'd definitely call and be flexible. By this I mean be prepared to turn your hand into a bluff when a deuce or a club comes because villain should consider that a bunch of your flop leading range consists of flush draws and hands with a 5 in them. It's going to be kind of annoying to make a bluff work oop after just calling the flop but I think between your pot equity and fold equity given stack depth you should call here. Next time don't lead the flop though!
