Default Heads up play not online, what would you do?

ok I'm a newbie in this forum so I'm gonna give this a shot. I played this hand awhile ago but let me see if I can remember exactly how it went.

Playing against a familair opponent heads up. Normally plays very smart will not put large amounts of money without a play, but will from time to time try and buy pots.

I'm in SB, blinds are $5/$10

I'd been playing more aggresive than normal this night and I'm dealt
    :Qh:

I call the blind, I'd been raising pre-flop a lot but switched up this hand, player checks.

    Flop comes :Qd: :Jc:

With top pair and straight draw I bet $20, I get called

    Turn comes :Ac:

I check to get a feel for his strenght and he checks as well.

    River comes :Ts:

I've made my straight and raise $40, he Re-raises to $80

    What would you have done???

Crying is your answer for everything.

But I agree, calling is your best move.

I called, and my biggest mistake was I re-raised him because I assumed he was making a play at the pot. I had been the agressor at this table all night and I was not going to let him take that from me.

he turned over two clubs, I gave him credit for laying a nice trap, and moved on.

    lesson learned..............pride=money lost

I did however wind up winning this heads up match though, but I thought it was an interesting hand to share.

I think you should only call if you have some strong argument for why you think he's bluffing, since this is basically all that you can beat. There's a four card ace high straight on the board as well as three to a flush, and this should alarm any opponent that isn't holding at least the nut straight. Given that your opponent is showing strength despite the strength that you are showing, and assuming he isn't an overly aggressive player, his raise is almost certainly legitimate.

You should have either check-called or check-folded (most likely the former) on the river since betting really doesn't achieve anything. He'll fold whenever he's beaten, and will call or raise whenever you're beaten.

What I don't understand is why you're acting before your opponent on the button.

    Default Man o Man

The guy you were playing against sounds retarded.

He's not a short guy with a beard that looks like Gimli from the LOTR movies?

    HAHA

    (beware the flush draw)
