Default Heads up; Stacks even; K-8, All-In?

Played in a live 10-man tournament last night. Made it to heads up, blinds were at 4/8 and we each had about 60 in chips left, perfectly even.

There was a very good chance he would call most All-Ins to knock somebody out. I was dealt K-8o and it was the best hand I had seen in a little while. Everything else I was getting I was calling the blind, or raising and missing the flop, so I needed to end this preflop before I lost all my chips to blinds and failed raises.

In this situation would you risk the tournament with K-8o when he is just as likely to call with J8 or any other trash? He ended up calling with A8 and picked up Trip Aces and I lost, but that is the correct move right?

Don't think twice about that move. Perfectly fine.

If raise 3x, u get reraised you are probably going AI anyway and if you get called and missed the flop what do you do? Atleast here you get fold equity.

    Allin.

When both of you have such short stacks like this heads up you need to be the agressor.

I hadn't played with my friends in a long time, then just recently did this past weekend. We all had stacks around 4,500-5,000 with blinds at 300/600. They kept saying I sucked by moving allin preflop instead of raising it to 1200 or something. I just smirked and kept up with it. Once it got to heads up both of our Ms were lower than 7, and I went AI pretty much any 2.. My friend said I had become a terrible poker player and ended up calling without looking because I "sucked."

But back on track, if you fold or just call with K8 here it is a bad idea. You need to either raise and make him fold, or raise and have it be basically a coin flip (unless you're unlucky, which you were).
