    Default Heads up stuff

Ok just came second in a 5+1 at paradise 10 seater.

Got to heads up, id had half the chips from about 6 hands in after i'd won 2 big hands back to back so i was just sitting back enjoying the crapness of the table.
    So heads up.
Was in raise/fold mode for nearly 10 mins while this guy i was against just folded and folded everything. Every hand for 10 goddman mins!
Then i get AK and just call trying to get action. He checks.
Flop comes k and rainbow rags.
I bet he pushes all in. His first bet. I call he turns over QQ and rivers a queen. Ok thats fair enough.
What im asking is how do you play against someone heads up who just folds folds folds then everytime i hit a flop he hits it better when i just call into him with good hands?
Do i just continue aggressivly betting at him hoping to push him into a corner?
I lost by the way to a one outter river card. Nearly cried but wasnt surprising against this guy. He was an absolute numpty who caught cards but how do i play against such passivness?

This is a great HU opponent... you just got a little unlucky that he rivered his Q. Since you know he has to be only keeping great hands, you can just fold as soon as you get any action, then go back to raising the next hand.

Note that this can be really annoying if the blinds are small.

The blinds maxed out at 500/1K he played three hands i think against me QQ twice and KK. He called once and folded to my push with pocket kings. madness

    himself fucker.
If he doesn't river his Q, do you even make this post?

Dont be results oriented. The answer is right in front of your face. Raise. Every. Damn. Hand.

    Sorry 'rilla.
It wasnt about rivering the queen its about how to play some who is super passive. I mean 10 mins heads up every time i made a bet preflop or post flop he folded then pushed once. Is there any specific way to play a passive at heads up? I guessed i might try to trap him but that didnt work either.

I mean, if you win that pot and win the HU match, wouldn't you be saying to yourself "I kicked his ass by constantly raising him!"?

With super tight-passive HU opponents just waiting for cards, you should constantly be raising to PF and your opponent will be folding more often then not, so you will be picking up a lot in blinds. If your opponent has a made hand and plays a pot thats when you try to get out. And you can just check down to the river even with a decent hand, expecting to take his blinds for a couple more hands afterwards. You shouldn't be checking that AK expecting to get action, you still need to raise PF! Take a look at this link about blind stealing and constant aggressiveness: http://www.tightpoker.com/tournament..._stealing.html

are you showing your hands when you blind steal or steal a pot? if not you should. there's nothing that will loosen up a tight player more than pushing them off their second pair with a 72o.
know the enemy and know yourself, and in 100 battles you will never be in peril.

know yourself but ignorant of the enemy, your chances of winning are half.

if ignorant of yourself and of your enemy and you will always be in danger.

i dont understand what you're asking...you clearly were playing correctly if you got him to call with a 2-outer...

you played it perfect. At the $5 level, I find many HU opponents waiting for a great hand. In the meantime, their stack is dwindling down via the blinds and your's raising. As rilla said, keep raising. Nothing like getting a free pot with junk. When he plays back, determine whether you have a shot and play or fold.
