Default Hmm...a great player can get away from this right?

K so I'm crushing 400 NL on Full Tilt going into this hand. Was up over 1k on 3 of the tables. Then this hand comes up and since I was on such a heater I just couldn't get myself to lay it down. I think the 'heaterness' of my session just didn't let me think clearly. Like 3 hands later I stacked off with KK to the same guy's set and finished the session even lol.

Villain is a SUPERNITTY nit nit nit although his stats at this table at 18/10. But I know he's not gonna donk away his stack deepstacked with an overpair. His cold-call of the shorty push should've set off alarm bells right? But can I just fold the flop there? If I just overcall the flop re-raise I can maybe get away from it on the turn. Arg...maybe i just want people to say 'standard', but i really really think a good player gets away from this hand because JJ, 99 are the only hands I can see villain calling my push with. So basically I'm bluffing with a set on a non 3-flush non-coordinated board. Pretty sick.

It's sick , but I think with your read it's foldable.

Based on your description, villain would def push you out of the hand if he had AA here.

God poker is awesome, mainly for vomit-inducing moments like these.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

i would call shorties flop push and try to get rest in on later streets.

villian calling the shortstack's push can easily be AJ and overpairs. you pushing the flop lets him get away from those. but its alot harder for him to do by just calling and betting turn and river.

Villain in this hand is folding AJ on this board given the action so fast it's sick. When he calls the only possible hands he has are JJ, 99, QQ, KK and AA. I agree though that I should've just called the shorty push because he'll have more trouble getting away from an overpair on later streets possibly while only a set is calling the push. I think the best line is to call the flop, and see if I can get a cheap showdown. Unlikely....but again if this player wants to get all his chips in the middle, he's not doing it with one pair.

no, you want to be getting the money in. the reason its bad on the flop is because its easy for him to get away from a push there, but the pot will be so big on turn he will have hard time folding overpairs to half pot bets

I have about 1K hands on Vic3Roy (hooray observed hands), and they support your read.

I'd still want to get all my chips in, but I think he only calls the flop push when you are crushed.
