I underbet the flop knowing that he will likely raise, my plan is to 3-bet an amount which shows that I am committing myself to the pot. If he folds great, is he doesn't I've probably got a a lot of outs.

i would rather lead him a larger amount so that your 3 bet is allin, but the line is fine. i dont like preflop though, i would rather raise or just fold because you have a LAG behind you, unless he is really bad then it seems ok

I'm not really defending the open limping, but this is what I often do with specifically QTs KTs from early pos, I think they play badly in raised pots so I just hope to see a cheap flop with them. I probably should start raising them in all positions or fold them early pos in aggressive games though.

I sometimes open limp with those hands 5-handed at some of the very loose-passive tables.

Yeah, openlimping KTs UTG with a lag behind you is pretty bleh because you'll be OOP on the flop with a hand thats either makes a marginal toppair or a drawing hand - both are hands that sucks when playing OOP against an aggressive player.

As for the flop line, it really comes down to how much folding equity you have on the flop, because you'll be a dog against most hands that calls you in this spot. I believe you have more folding equity if your 3bet is allin (which is possible with a larger flop lead like gabe stated)

I agree with not open limping with an aggressive player left to act behind you. What if this player loves to 3-bet you preflop though, would you consider open limping small pocket pairs as well as the occasional big pocket pair (going for the LRR) as a form of pot control OOP or do you just make a stand preflop?
