BTW, this is a great forum, I am interested in seeing some fireworks on HH's. However, I just don't have the balls to play the 2-4 and 3-6NL yet. Lets say your BR is $12K, that's only 20 $600 buy-ins. I can easily see myslelf loosing 1/2 or more just on general variance. I don't have the stomach for that. I'm still easing into $200 buy-in.

Off-line is another story. But even there it gets tricky and I turn into a pus. A smart pus, but a pus nonetheless. A few weeks ago at the "card club" we were playing 2/5 NL. You can buy in to cover the table. So after a few hours the stacks get pretty deep. I managed to quadruple up and am sitting with $1200. Then all the deep pockets start buying more chips to try and win it back. Well, I have enough sense to get up an leave, because I know one bad read, or bad river and it's bye bye $1200. That is the beauty and danger of NL I guess.

I would of kept the 1200 on the table, but thats just me.....

Sure, I understand the logic in that. I was as good or better than the rest of the table but it exceeded my acceptable level of risk. I could have doubled that up and gad $2400; I could have gone completely broke on a horrible beat; or I could walk out with $900 for 3 hours work and have a smile on my face for the rest of the week. I always chose the later.

sounds like you are just a recreational player having fun and trying to move up and make a little extra cash..in your spot i absolutely think you did the right think.

For other players who all they do is play poker and its their sole income they would definately want to sit in this game with all the fat stacks around.

Good decision to leave. If you stay around in an uncapped game the deep pockets will keep a lot of pressure on you. Actually, the best way to exploit a game like that is to stay shallow money (if you could.)

Or just use the huge stacks to make loose calls preflop with implied odds and force them to make tough folds with their big cards or get eaten alive.

If it was someone else's money, and I knew that they were cool with me losing it all on a bad beat, then id play it as if it was just plastic chips and double up a couple more times.

If it was my own money, Id know I was gonna play scared so Id leave. Cant play with a bad state of mind.
