Default Induce the bluff then fold. Is this as bad as I think it is

Cant remember his exact stats but he's pretty tight preflop and pretty aggro postflop.
    Somewhere around 20/7/9

    Cryptologic
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $0.50/$1
    5 players
    Converter

    Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with J J
3 folds, SB calls, Hero raises to $3, SB calls.

    Flop: 8 5 6 ($6, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $4, SB calls.

    Turn: T ($14, 2 players)
    SB checks, Hero checks.

    River: 8 ($14, 2 players)
    SB bets $9, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: $9 returned to SB.

    Results:
    Final pot: $14
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

    That's a very tight/weak fold.
Any villain even remotely aggressive bets that river almost everyime.

What made you think u are not good here?

Why didn't u bet the flop harder and bet the turn?
    Check out the new blog!!!

a turn bet would of probably avoided that situation. Bet the turn.

ez call pay him off or pick it up

If you had 10x this would be closer imo

edit : checking the turn isn't bad but the point of checking the turn is to allow villains to outdraw you 10-30% of the time but to let them fire like this whereas they'll almost always fold to your second bullet. Folding here is nonsensical (even if he showed 8888 or something crazy).
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

To be honest Im not sure why I folded. I checked so that he would bet the river and I would call but then the size of his bet seemed extremely like a value bet. I just got a bad feeling and folded but pretty much as soon as I folded I wish I hadnt. I dont know what he had though.

aggro villains like this are betting here almost always. if he has an 8 by some off chance i pay it, but i call this 100% of the time.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

I agree with most other people here.

I think the turn check-through is good, ONLY if you plan on calling any villain lead on the river.

If you're not sure how you'd handle a river lead, then I think betting the turn is the best play, and checking through the river if you get that chance.

What size river bet would you have figured for a bluff then? I like the turn check, for pot control on a fairly scary board, but then you pretty much have to call any size bet other than an extreme over bet.
