    Default Interesting preflop situation w/TT

    Converter's offline but here's the gist: 200nl, 6max, full stacks, Hero's on the button with T T

Folds to Hero, Hero raises to $7, SB calls $6, BB raises to $20, Hero calls $13. But now SB raises to $55, BB calls $35, Hero ???

    Should I ever fold here?

There's $130 in the pot when it gets to you, $35 more to call...

Well, you know what the SB has, he's flipped his cards face up (AA I'd assume, KK at worst), and SB has told you he's got a good hand too (but not AA/KK).....we can probably assume a few things.

    1) We're behind the SB and probably (at best) coin-flipping with the BB.

    2) The SB will probably open push *any* flop. So instead of calling $35 to win $130, we're actually calling $35 to win $275.

    3) Sometimes the BB will call the SB's open push, putting even *more* money in the pot. So sometimes we're looking at putting in $35 more to win $400+.

I think if we can assume we're getting the SB's stack if we hit a set (which most of time time we will), I can see this being a +EV play (to call).....just barely.

That said, it's never a guarentee that you'll get it all-in, and set-over-sets do happen.....I probably puke in my mouth a little bit and fold preflop and ignore the screen until the hand is over (I don't want to see a ten hit here).

no way you can fold! call and "pull it back, Mike" when the T falls.

sorry for the WSOP commercial reference...had to be done.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

    SB's range might surprise you.

This is really close. You need like 10:1 to call for pure set value if you assume everything goes your way (he always stacks off, etc.)

I would fold and save myself the drama, but calling isn't a big mistake.

Consider that you're not always getting his stack on an ATx flop (about 16.5% of the time you catch a set.)

I think in this situation you're usually good to hit a set half of the time. Online poker is rigged, duh!

Anyway, hopefully you know that's not what I meant...still funny though.

P.S. Not the way I thought you'd get it all-in on the flop (after hitting your set)....His flop check is absolutely terrible, I'm open-pushing any non-ace flop if I'm him.

Hopefully I never play poker bad enough to get into a situation like that.

If this were true I'd say that's a fairly significant mistake.

You're dumping this at the 4-bet, I presume?
