Default kinda simple question - reraised pf with 35-40bb...

    This happened a lot lately:

    6 handed 100nl
I am UTG, and cover an unknown (new to the table) UTG+1 who has $35-$40

    pre flop:
I raise to $4, UTG+1 reraises to $10, folds to me.

I've been pushing 99+/AK and mucking everything else. Seem good? Last couple times they turned over QQ, AA...so just seeing what u think.

I'd push JJ+/AK probably without a read. Another line with a medium pair less than AA/KK is to just call preflop and get it in on a safe board. Folding TT and even JJ is totally fine too. Actually that's a tiny reraise, I'd call with those hands at least and take a flop.

I find it really hard to be able to put an unknown on a hand. My calling an allin range from him is AQ+ and probably 77+, accepting that I am a coinflip but putting him allin here with anything but JJ+ or AK+ would not be optimal IMO. Given the situation I flat call his reraise at 100 NL and reevaluate the flop. If I have an overpair to the board or TPTK I have no problems putting him allin, but I prefer to have him be the one pushing than me.

thanks...was thinking the 99/TT type hands weren't too +ev vs unknowns even though short stacked, especially when they reraise smallish like that.

I think aisle hit it really well.

Against unknown shorties with 35-40 BBs I normally push AK/AA/KK/QQ when it gets folded back to me. JJ I sometimes push as well. With 99/TT I mostly call, because its a tiny reraise and villian might just have two unpaired high cards.

Yea this makes more sense than auto pushing all good hands. Like if the flop is like J high or lower, seems they usually just go all in with AQ/AK when checked to anyway.
